1. More studio support 7 from 8 majors. I think time will tell on the loyalties of the studios. They're going with the one they think will come out on top, but if it were to sway, they'll drop like flies.

2. The best and brightest of Japan and Corean manufacturers. It's Korean- but you didn't say the best and brightest posters.

3. PS3 - cheap entry. PS3 was designed as a vehicle to push this format, if I want a video game player, I'll buy one- If I want a movie player I'll buy one. I'm not spending $600 on a PS3 because it plays Blu-Ray (I own every system back to the Atari excluding Sony). Talk regular players- Blu-Ray is more expensive.

4. You already mentioned the tech side but I will reiterate how important it is, very. Again, consumers will skimp on tech to save money, already proven.

5. By the time normal people are interested in either format there won't be a large disparity in price unless Toshiba continues to take a hit on every player sold. (LG ~ $450-500) Every company takes a hit with the players- they don't make money from those.
There you wanted some answers you got 'em.
I do appreciate your view- I'm just saying the least expensive one usually wins out.
