There will be a 3D Blu-ray available this year, packaged with the Panasonic 3D Viera plasma TV. However the article says that it's only relevant for the US market, so I don't know if it will apply to us or not.

I couldn't care less about 3D - it's such a new technology that even if I shelled out for the over-inflated price of a new TV/BD player, there would only be a tiny handful of discs in this format. Even BD has yet to catch on properly, so I think manufacturers are being massively optimistic that 3D is going to set their industry on fire.

Thank goodness I won't have to buy the 3D version just to get the special!

Will stick with the regular version I have... The movie sucks so I'm happy with just the regular ol version for the shiny picture

Two placeholders have appeared on Play:

Avatar: Limited Extended Collector's edition

&

Avatar: Extended Collector's edition.

So I guess we could be expecting an announcement soon.

Yeah and apart from the current Blu on Play, which is priced at £23.99, both the DVD and Blu-ray editions have become unavailable on Amazon and HMV, the latter listing it as deleted. So an announcement really shouldn't be too long now. Here's hoping the Limited Edition is another Steelbook.

Both those listings have been on Play a couple of weeks. Eagerly waiting to find out what the LE is!

I know whatever the limited edition version is, I'm almost certain to be ordering it.

Please don't be too expensive.

It's a 20th Century Fox limited edition release. We'll most likely need to take out mortages in order to afford it, LMAO.

The LE will probably be the same as the EE, but with something collectable. I'm going to guess at a Na'vi or Mech Suit statue.

erm...I am afraid so by the looks of it. Reported here that it will be a limited numbered edition with a list price of 149.99 euros!!!
I hear it will be in a unobtainium tin

Just been rated by the BBFC, so now we have a release date. Only thing to wait for now is a pre-order.
