Paris, Texas - 4.5/5

Excellent film. I think I'll enjoy even more with a second viewing. Everyone was great, especially Harry Dean Stanton. Jhiggy, the monologue (well, the whole booth scene) was great!

In the Realm of the Senses - 4.25/5

Very interesting film about carnal lust and obsession. The two leads were amazing and they had great chemistry, especially during the sex scenes (which btw, is most of the film so if anyone isn't comfortable with graphic, non-simulated sex, this isn't for you).

Vivre Sa Vie - 3.25/5

Not bad, but not my cup of tea. Didn't mind watching Anna Karina though Godard's camera work in this one was interesting, often showing only the back of the people's heads during conversation. Next Godard film on my list is Breathless

The Town - 4.5/5

Awesome! I was disappointed with Gone Baby Gone, but Ben really delivered with this one. Can't wait to get this on blu, the soundtrack is gonna be insane.... loud gunfire with a lot of powerful bass!

Strong performances from everyone, including a nice surprise performance from Blake Lively. I didn't like The Hurtlocker, but I want to like Jeremy Renner so I was glad that he was awesome in this film. Nice to see Ben acting again, he was pretty good. Definitely looking forward to his future as a director

The Leopard - 3.25/5

Great film, just not my cup of tea. I didn't really care about the characters, nor for the way the film plays out. Lots of gorgeous landscapes and ladies, ballroom attire, big mansions, etc. kept me interested, and at times, Lancaster's character. Overall, just didn't appeal to me.

I thought it had it's moments, but overall I was unimpressed. It came and went too fast and I wasn't feelin any magic. It seemedas though they didn't put much effort into it and it felt rushed and "cheap" to me, if that makes any sense.

Catfish - If you know what to expect going in, then you can enjoy the movie or "documentary" for what it is. However if you're like me and only seen the trailer and know nothing else about it then you will be highly disappointed as the marketing for this is very misleading. It is not a thriller or horror of any sort, just a lame excuse for a movie.

And no, the last 40 minutes will not haunt you for days.

I wanted to like this movie.

[Show spoiler]So the whole story is the guy makes friends with a little 9 year old girl on the internet after she sends him a painting of one of his photographs and then he gets to know the mother, and her older sister, and even begins a long-distance relationship with the older sister. The sister says she's also a singer, and sends him a song that she recorded, yet he knows he heard it before and looks it up on Youtube and sure enough, he finds the exact same recording. So then he starts to think something fishy is going on here. His documentarian buddies help him investigate and they ultimately go for a visit.
When they get there, they soon learn that while there IS a family with the mother, father, and two daughters, he had been talking with the mother the entire time. She's a crazy delusional who put on this facade and lied about all her family members and what they do. And that's it. Seems like an after school special about internet safety and do you really know who you're talking to on the internet?

understandable. you're right: whenever I'm watching a film, I have to care somewhat about some of the characters for the film to be great in my eyes. The Prince seemed to be going through

[Show spoiler]an incredible change. His entire family was getting uprooted. He was going from King of the Pallace where people literally kissed his feet, to a mere wanderer in a dance ball at the end...a mere one among many...no longer royalty, no longer special and no longer anything but a grain of sand on the beach like everyone else. An incredible demonstration of humility in the face of life giving you a big kick in the a@s, and learning to accept the curveballs life throws at you. I can defintely relate! I think anyone can without being royalty, which is why I love the film.

. can't wait to watch this a second time! those screenshots were quite possibly the most gorgeous I've seen on Blu (along with Days of Heaven and the Fall)

All of my favorite animations seem to be (1) stop motion and (2) dark, semi-scary (Coraline, 9, Corpse Bride). Something about the stop-motion is just hynotizing to me

“Harlem Nights.”

Another fine dramedy with top-notch period reproduction and quality acting. I was quite intrigued and impressed by the settings and production value. It is well-filmed and visually interesting overall.

The film has an okay story with a decent cast of characters. I can’t say it caught my interest the whole time, but it wasn’t totally dull either, and actually had many awesome scenes here and there (I love the shoot-out toward the middle; that one dude was crazy!). The story did have many twists and turns, some surprising and others humorous.

And the music was snazzy too.

“Los Cronocrímenes.,” aka “Time Crimes.”

As Squiddy previously remarked, this film is a bit like “Triangle.” As such, unfortunately, I found most of this film predictable. Right from the start. All these highly intellectual open-to-interpretation films must be spoiling me.

But this film handled the theme of time travel very well; it is a very well-crafted story with extreme attention to detail. I was very happy with the way it played out, for I felt it was very logical. Wouldn’t say the same for the main character though; I felt he was a total dope. But, he was believable and well-acted.

The film had my attention the whole way through. It is pretty well-filmed. It doesn’t look like it has (or even needs) a high production value, but the film still looks well-made.

Great movie, badily aged. It's the first movie of it's kind and because of that, looking back, it seems stale. It isn't as shocking or unnerving as it seems. I really do like it, but I can't give it anything more than a...

Eden Lake

Did not engage with this one at all, it's a very good movie, I just couldn't feel it. There were true emotion shown and was intresting within characters, and twists, but the ending didn't do it for me. I can see what people didn't like about The Mist ending, but that film earned it's ending, I didn't feel this one did. Wasn't entertaining and I wasn't sure what you was suppost to think about after it.
