Inception in 3D?
Sources report Warner is considering converting Inception for 3D for HBO 3D pay per view and if so almost certainly for 3D Blu-Ray later. Inception was a pretty great movie with one of the most brilliant scripts in motion picture history. There are many moments that would work great in 3D. However after Clash of the Titans turned out Im concerned that the home 3D market doesn't have the payback for a quality 3D conversion so Im afraid Warner will go cheap. Hopefully this will turn out Ok. |

Alice in Wonderland and G-Force Are all examples of more then decent conversions buddy Conversions are a viable form of 3D that if done right nearly equal Native 3D productions. I welcome an Inception conversion if it can be done right but if they decide to do it half ass they would be better off doing nothing at all |

i dont think Nolan will allow it to be honest.. he's been very vocal in his non support of 3d as a format to film in.. i bet warner would have loved to have Inception shot in 3d but he would have probably said.. hmm.. well if you want another batman movie.. 'let me do things my way' you have to credit the guy.. he's batting pretty strong at the moment!

However just because Clash of the Titans, Pirhanna, and The Last Airbender had mediocre to poor conversions doesn't make all conversions bad. The Nightmare Before Christmas and Alice in Wonderland both looked very good in converted 3D and had they been natively shot the differences would be minimal. Conversions can look as good as native 3D but if done right are expensive if anything more expensive then the challenges of a native 3D shoot. Thats why the fight should focus not against all conversions but against cheaply done ones. I love that conversion exists and we have the possibility of getting quality 3D presentations of great 2D movies if the original filmmakers approve of course. Titanic is sure to look great when it comes in 2012. |

Clash of the Titans was already finished before the conversion was started. That conversion was slaped together in only 8 weeks. Not all conversions are equal which is why its important to make the distinction between good conversions like Alice in Wonderland and The Nightmare Before Christmas and lousy the lousy ones which are a very recent phenomina |
