Ok i seriously dont know how to describe this amazing movie. It bad directing and bad acting done perfectly!!! Doesnt make sense right?? Just see this d@mn movie it is amazing. I almost passed out! From the horrible stunt doubles to the crazy ass dialogue to the cheap ass cut scenes. These movie has to be the most hilarious movie i've ever viewed!!!!!! If you enjoyed Shoot'em Up or Machete just a little you will LOVE this flick.

This movie is simply MUST OWN BOTTOM LINE!

One of the best parts is the bar fight scene. Classic! For those looking for something offbeat, you gotta see this and it can be had via netflix streaming.

I am glad that it worked for you and that you enjoyed it. Your points are valid too. The war would overshadow the events depicted in the town when viewed from a global perspective, certainly. But for me, I spent those hours very closely, and very intimately with those specific people. I was invested in them. I am not the type that needs EVERY answer, but I felt the film provided NONE. And the mutiple stories that were playing out were heavy and intense, not fluffy things to be dismissed. Thats how it hit me anyway, like a book missing its final chapter.

-I also liked how God was a character in the film. Mentioned about 15 times. In any apocalyptic scenario, the conventional attitude is "how could God let this happen?" but this presumes a human-focused design. Perhaps God's design doesn't revolve around us. Shocker.
-I also liked the use of "inner fire" which is a good substitute for some who don't like the G word IMO, it doesn't matter what you call it -- an inner guiding conscience.

-a few questions remained, but may be me looking for details that aren't there:

[Show spoiler]when the mom gave birth: was that to the boy? or to another kid that miscarried? how did the apocalyse happen - nuclear? or from falling trees -- I assume they're just a consequence of the apocalypse?
-I was a bit stumped at the ocean scene: why were they heading there? to meet people or for expecting more food?

[Show spoiler]I subscribe to the theory that the event was a natural phenomenon, not war or a man made accident. If it were the results of bombs, the effects would have dissipated after 10 years. The fact that the sky appears to be permanently ruined tells me there was some kinda of cataclysmic environment change. Caused by what? I dont know. Could have been a meteor shower containing viruses. Could have been epic global volcanic eruption (ongoing).

The reason they were going coastal and then south was because of the rumors. Just like in Waterworld where there were rumors handed down through the generations that "Land" actually existed. No one had seen it, but the rumors remained. In the Road, there were rumors of Sun peeking through somewhere in the south. Sunlight would be their saviour.

I liked Braveheart when it came out, but now it's kinda hard to separate Mel the actor from Mel the buttwipe and the movie doesn't seem quite as epic now. It seems like just another vehicle for mel to satisfy his bloodlust. Weird, because i love Apocalypto.

Gladiator is decent, but all the awards it won gives it the overhype syndrome.

Kindom of Heaven has some great visuals, but in the end i just don't give a crap. Same thing with Troy.

I admit i have battle fatigue when it comes to movies these days. I wanna see "The Owl Movie", but i'm not sure i wanna watch owls fight for 90 minutes and i love owls in real life. Actually, all birds of prey are quite awe inspiring to me. All predators really.

it's very easy to separate if you don't buy into all the media crap about him--
yes, he's a flawed individual-- as most Hollywood types are--
he's also a brilliant director and a wonderful actor....and the movie is what it always was and will be-- a first rate classic

I'm not a horror fan but every once in a while my friends say, "Let's watch a scary movie!" so I do see some. I actually enjoyed Sorority Row. I gave it a 3/5.

Is it a great movie? Definitely not, but it was a decent/fun watch
