The trailer didnt exactly give a clue as to what the "story" is about. Is there a story?

That's the website of the film. The top video is an additional trailer, and the bottom involves some clips from the film including dialogue (the film is in English, Meden's first). It's even more NSFW than the other.

haha I think what he's trying to say, w/o having seen Sunset/Sunrise, is that the film does not delve into the complex and wordly dialogue that exists in those films, opting instead for visual symbolism and the conveyance of carnal and emotional desires and connections.

Maybe I read it wrong. I took it as...

I guess it means, its not as tame as Before Sunrise.

Thanks DJ for that thoughtful response -- I'll definitely watch Breathless when I get a chance, so haven't given up on Godard yet Your perspective may help on my next viewing - we'll see

Yeah - your synopsis of that theme was perfect and the film was definitely taking me there. I definitely enjoyed the film - 3.5 for me is not easily achieved It was very entertaining - a little bit like a dramatic version of Office Space , but with more dramatic theme depth. May still purchase it.

Regarding your underlined comment. I have a hard time accepting that something is good just because its different. I believe that different can be good, but just being different doesnt make it good.

I think you MAY like it (being careful on expectations ). On the style/substance balance, I felt it did great. Based on the director's own life, so in the substance dept, it was kinda hard to pull a Godard

Definitely. Sex and Lucia was one of, if not the, first film that really opened me up to the complexity that some films offer. I remember watching that film 3 times in a matter of days and then furiously writing an analysis, which ended up being about 5 pages or so. Just based on the trailer(s) and the way the room is set up, I expect much of the same here. You can already tell that Meden has set up several shots to be reminiscent of paintings. I'm sure the eroticism of the film will attract many people, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a selling point, but I think this film potentially could convey some rich themes. Netflix doesn't even have it listed but it does come out on blu in the UK in two and a half weeks--I'm waiting for bassoonist to let me know if it's region locked or not.
