According to the credits they are played by different actors and there is a 2 yr difference between the kids at the beginning of the film and at the end.

I Feel that the End was a metaphor ... because it was his dream to see his Kids again. He was not dreaming but he was living a dream so to speak.

Inception in 3D?

A new batch of rumors from inside sources say that there are plans to convert Inception to 3D for presentation on a new 3D on-demand channel that HBO is planning. Apparently, HBO has confirmed that the channel is forthcoming and that the films Clash of the Titans, The Polar Express and Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore are among titles that will be available for a per-play fee.

HollywoodinHighDef goes on to say that the same sources reporting the HBO 3D channel also said there were plans to convert Christopher Nolan's latest achievement for play on the channel, as well as a possible 3D re-release. However, spokespeople for both HBO and Warner Bros. say that there are no such plans. Converting Inception to 3D would not be in line with recent statements made by Nolan himself regarding 3D technology, though he apparently prefers conversions to shooting stereoscopically.

But that's not all. The article ends with this sentence: "Prevailing opinions at Warner are that Nolan will not enjoy the luxury of taking a pass on 3D for the new Batman movie, which will surely be set up for 3D from the beginning."

Well there you have it. What do you say? Batman 3 or Batman 3D?

How are they going to deal with the scene where Arthur is taking Ariadne through a dream and shows her the Penrose steps? 3D would ruin that scene.

The question on everyone's mind this past summer - well besides, "what came first the chicken or the egg?" - has been "did the spinning top drop at the end of Inception?"

SPOILERS AHEAD

Cinesnobs and other pretentious movie elite maintain that the true ending can only be revealed by Christopher Nolan, and he's not getting tired of keeping the secret. But, it seems that Inception star Michael Caine has had it with the interrogations. Caine spoke on BBC Radio's The Chris Moyles Show and revealed what the director's intentions really were. He said:

“[The spinning top] drops at the end, that's when I come back on. If I'm there it's real, because I'm never in the dream. I'm the guy who invented the dream.”

So, strutting Leonardo DiCaprio goes home and finally sees his kids. Seems clear cut right? Still, we believe Caine's statement can be interpreted in many ways.

- The top drops, and everyone is in the real world now.
- Leo isn't real because he's just a figment of Caine's dream. So, yes it is real - real in Caine's dream world so nothing in the movie was intended to be real.
- Inception is real, and Caine just planted that idea in our head. He's sick of moviegoers asking him if the top dropped or not.

The only true answer will be when Nolan finally speaks on the topic, and judging from the fact that he's going to be directing Batman 3 he's got too much on his plate to stop and talk about spinning tops. Plus, part of the fun of the movie is leaving it up to your own personal interpretation so maybe that question should never be answered

The top drops; it even wobbles before the credits start; this is just Nolan having fun with the audience.

If it was ALL a dream then there is nothing for the audience to connect to and the whole film loses all credibility. There is no point to the story unless the ending is real.

Caine is correct; he never appears in the dream, only the real world and that is also why we only see the kids faces at the end, doesn't DiCaprio say that he doesn't want to see his kids faces unless it's for real? That's what happens at the end and why the scene is significant.

The spinning top is just for fun and simply designed to make the audience chuckle; which in my cinema, they did.

I always laugh when people debate the ending. Anyone who has ever owned a top in their life knows that once a top shows a hint of a wobble, it's going over shortly after that.

If the top in that movie was going to keep spinning, it would have never started that wobble.

I think people actually want to believe things are more complex than they really are, just bc they are bored and want something to talk about. There is no mystery to the ending at all, all this mystery is just fabricated on the internet.
