United Kingdom Is Book Of Eli worth a blind-buy?

I've never seen it (obviously) and have seen that it's pretty cheap on HMV/Play.com these days. Is it worth picking up? I've heard mixed things.

cheers!

It's kind of a religious movie and also similar to I am Legend and Doomsday so if you like those movies you'll enjoy this.

Yeah not a bad flick at all that is definitely worth checking out! As Gandalf said, similar to I Am Legend, Doomsday and to some extent The Road!

It starts out like a post apocalyptic, religous type film then slowly moves into a gory, action packed mindless film, which could be a good thing if you love action, guns and explosions and chicks chucking grenades around, or a bad thing if you despise that kind of stuff.

On the other hand, the image quality is outstanding and the audio seriously rocks.

Having paid good money to see this at the cinema I'd say no, rent it before you buy. I usually like apocalyptic settings and the first bit of Eli was ok, but Gary Oldman over-acting terribly and the dodgy plot spoiled the majority of the movie.

I don't know about everyone else... but round my area it costs about £4.50 to rent a movie...

With this on sale for as little as £6.50, i can't see any value in renting it... if you buy it for that price and only ever watch it twice then you already more than got yout moneys worth

As for the film... it's a pretty good action flick wrapped around a moral of the importance of religion in rebuilding civilisation after an apocalypse... and i say that as a staunch atheist...

You can pick this up cheap as chips and watch Denzel handing some mofos their asses. It's about as religious as Raiders Of The Lost Ark IMO.

that is a pretty accurate synopsis of the movie.

I enjoyed the movie, but not sure if Id sit down to watch it again.

But my opinion as far as a "blind buy"? ...it definitely would not be the worst movie in anyone's collection.

It really doesnt have any rewatchability value, so renting is your best bet.

Hah, I just did some googlin' to see what your point was, and found out the 'spoiler'...To be honest, I assumed
[Show spoiler]he was blind
from the posters/trailers alone, I didn't think it was going to be a spoiler

[Show spoiler]He isn't blind though.... is he? I thought he just 'decoded' it and learned how to read it.

100% agree, good film but has zero re-watchability.
