Jus pre-ordered the Extended Collector's Edition. 25 euro is a great price.

Here is a link to the autograph dispute, guess you have to make up your own mind who was in the wrong. It's not as cut and dried as people portray. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6j4EbMcFZU

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I got an email from Play this morning saying release date has changed to November 15th.

Same, I was actually expecting the email, as it said 15th November on the site and the announcement stated 15th November, but when I ordered it, it put release date as 4th October, which I immediately knew was an error.

Anyway, not long left to wait!

Someone else is late again.

My problem with these really expensive limited edtion sets you're always trying to be careful when you're opening the packaging just to get to the disc, because you don't want to leave any kind marks or creases on it since you paid so much. As a consequence of this you're always worrying about it, so you can't enjoy it in the way you should, which is sad.

As I've said already on this thread, I'm going to wait a while and probaly just get the regular edition once the price has gone down.

i did it. i ordered the Limited Edition. Years later when I am rich, I won't worry about the £93 HMV is charging.

BTW, is anyone else concerned that supposedly they've fitted all 3 versions of the movie, i.e. almost 9 hours of film time on to only disc 1?

they are probs not 3 full different versions of the movie.
Seamless branching means they can have the added scenes from the other 2 cuts on the disc and then you can view them within the movie.

Yes this'll definitely be what they've done, and generally what happens when you have different cuts of a movie on one disc (the new Alien Anthology will very likely use the same technique).

However since the original barebones release supposedly filled a blu-ray disc to its capacity to make it look and sound the best it possibly could, adding that extra footage IS probably going to mean that the space the original theatrical cut takes up will work out to be less (with lower bitrates perhaps), am I right? Though, I'm sure it will still look great.

There was still about 5 GB free in the original disc IIRC

They really are squeezing as much out of this cash cow as possible. £90 for a collectors edition I thought the Avatar steelbook was expensive! Its the number 1 grossing film of all time! It was even re-released in cinemas as you know with the extra footage in it. I mean come on.

I saw the film once in 3D at the cinema and then bought the Steelbook only because of its eye-candy characteristics and the steel is so nice . They will not be getting any more of my money. The film wasn't bad at all, its a fun film to watch with the family at Christmas, but that's where I draw the line. I'm sorry Fox but I'm out .

If you owned neither copy currently and had to choose between the new colletors edition at £17.99 or the old steelbook which would you go for?

Other people are welcome to answer too. I'm guessing most would choose the new £17.99 version buit the steel collectors might be swayed otherwise

Fair point . To answer your question, I would have to say the steelbook, as I do collect them and I'm not really a fan of special features etc. And I can live without the extra footage . I would accept this as a gift but I wouldn't buy it. Just my 2 pence .
