Very good film and I'm surprised it's taken me this long to see it. The writing was fantastic and I really enjoyed seeing the depth of every character. Matt Damon, Robin Williams and Minnie Driver were very impressive, though the whole cast was great. I loved every moment between Damon and Williams, watching them rip each others worlds apart and then build a new life together, essentially becoming the family they never had. I can't wait for the blu.
I saw this in the theater and loved it. I have been putting off seeing it until a Blu-ray is available. Hurry up already damn it.

netflix really has to update their website for film lengths.
i was just about to watch one that said "114 mins" equal out to 1 hr. 54 mins) and then i click to watch it and the total time says "2:52:25" that's not 114 at all!

The only "problem" I can see with the Comparer is that some collections do not accurately represent a members tastes. An example would be a man who hates kids movies and chick flicks, yet has a ton in his collection for his wife and children. His "tastes" would artificially align with mine. Does that matter for what you are trying to achieve? I dont know.

great point! Perhaps we can each member optionally designate titles they don't want to count for purposes of the comparison? By default it would include them all.

to answer your question -- yes. That is the goal to achieve -- taste compatibility matching.

Hmm.... I'll go with Mulholland Dr. For a US release. And you didn't respond to my review I figured you would destroyed my theories and / or at least said I wrote a decent review... Guess I didn't do either very well

That would work. They need to get on this. DIESEL, get this started. I dont care how complicated the task may be or how many man hours are needed to complete the job, just get it done. We all know that there are dozens of highly paid Blu-ray.com employees just sitting around twittling their thumbs, so no excuses.

I didnt respond because the review was horrible, and frankly, if you cant understand the movie, then conversing with you is a waste of my valuable time.
[Show spoiler]

Seriously though, I have only seen the movie once and really enjoyed it. However, I dont have a solid enough handle on it to subscribe to ONE specific theory. I like it because it Lynchishly weird. This is another film that I am waiting for a Blu before I rewatch. I'd need to watch this a few times and really dissect it in order to formulate an opinion that I could stand behind.

Oh, by the way, good review and nice theories.

awesome review bro!!

However, it would take me about 30 minutes to respond and I can't devote the needed time this masterpiece of a film respects right now -- will respond later.

On an initial reading -- great insights, many which I've never picked up on. There is definitely no "correct" theory. Lynch would sucker punch anyone who claims so (for real). I watched it for the first time this year. I pulled a "500 days of Bearcat" and watched it 4 times in one week.

The Fast and the Furious (netflix instant)

it's baffling how if you take the individual things from The Fast and the Furious and ask me if i like them, my answer would be a resounding "no".

- street racing? never interests me.
- spending thousands upon thousands on a car? seems completely foolish, to me.
- rap music and heavy fast metal music? the very last things i would listen to besides country.
- Michelle Rodriquez? ugh. plays the same "tough chick" role in every film / show and it gets old fast.

and you would think putting all those things together would make me have a mouthfart. but they didn't. actually i enjoyed The Fast and the Furious a whole hell of a lot more than i ever thought i would.

some very funny dialogue, great, high intensity car racing segments, some "oh sh*t!" explosions and craziness that would make most audience members tense up and squeal like a pig because these people are so outrageous, and some fun characters that feel like real people. maybe because i used to be very good friends who do these exact things that the movie indicates and shows us, i connected more than i thought i would. and while i didn't understand almost any of the car dialogue, i chuckled because this is exactly how those old friends talk and they go all when talking about cars and get all googly-eyed over some car part, meanwhile i don't even know if the part goes under the hood or under my sink in the kitchen!

this was my first "Vin Diesel has a major role" film, and i thought he did a fantastic job. at times he is extremely intimidating, which i couldn't even imagine dealing with someone of his size in real life when he hells and is holding a shot gun?! yeah, i'd take notice too and Paul Walker wasn't bad either. for some reason i tend to enjoy his films, even though his performances aren't Oscar worthy.

sure the film is filled with some wildly goofy and cheesy dialogue sometimes, but there was never anything that made me groan or roll my eyes. maybe i liked it more than i would have normally since i was in the mood for something fun and lighthearted after so many serious films of late, and The Fast and the Furious did the job

but i don't want to take anything away here from the film. it's full of exciting moments, high energy, tense racing, some cool "inside the car / outside the car" directing, and i'm sure this looks extremely well on blu-ray.

the later part of the film seems to have scene set up / structure issues that doesn't have a whole bunch of logic to it, but that didn't effect my enjoyment here too much. and there's a twist about 30 minutes in that i never saw coming and i'm shocked i didn't accidentally find out since the movie is older and all my pals saw it and watched it religiously, but it added a nice touch of tension to the rest of the film since we knew what other characters didn't know.

very well done. very glad i watched it. and i'm sure Diesel will appreciate the review

Glad you enjoyed it!

Warning - If you go on to see the sequels, 2Fast is definitely not as good as this one and you most likely won't enjoy it as much (or maybe even not at all).
They lost the "heart" the first film had and amped up the flashiness. I enjoy it, but its not the same.

When Diesel came back in Fast & Furious, it goes back to the first film just not quite as light hearted and you should (hopefully) enjoy that one around as much as the first one.

Tokyo Drift....well, yea

Here's a bonus:

I have said it before but Tokyo Drift was the best of them all imo. Then it is followed up by 1 then 4 and last was the 2nd which i still found fun.

I think we've had this conversation before

Tokyo just doesn't work for me. It's (Han is pretty awesome though ).
It's just doesn't feel like a Fast & Furious movie to me.

It's probably the most dividing one of the 4.
