Paramount Jackass 3 (2010) [No 3D Blu-ray] [Anaglyph Blu-ray and Digital 3D Only]

fun movie, not as good the the previous, but fun. A few good 3d moment but more of a gimmic...........will definetly buy this on 3d blu-ray and the 3.5 version that will follow......I couldnt believe Regal cinema charges $16 a ticket for a 3d movie, outrageous!

Does anyone know if your TV has a 3D converter whether it works well on the Blu Ray for this?

It does NOT! This movie totally sucks on the 3D side of things. I got such a freaking headache wearing the 3D glasses that came with the movie. Then I switched to 2D version of the movie and turned on the 3D feature of my TV and attempted to use the 3D shutter glasses.

Results: Although I didn't get a much as a headache watching using the shutter glasses, the 3D effect totally sucked. If you are on the fence about buying this movie, I'd wait until they make another version that is made for using shutter glasses and not those cheap flimsy paper colored glasses.

Just my 2 cents.

I did the same thing. For this movie I did the 2D to 3D conversion on my tv (GT30) and while the 3D wasn't intense it certainly wasn't good either.

Anyway, movie was okay i guess. The first is my favorite but just can't watch these movies over and over. The gags get old from movie to movie and in 3 I felt like they were running out of ideas.

Paramount Jackass 3 (2010) No 3D Blu-ray [digital & anaglyph releases only]

It feels like I've been waiting forever for this one, This is one of the 3D titles I've been wanting badly being I like Jackass and this was filmed in 3D. But it doesn't even seem like Paramount has any plans to ever release this in true proper 3D.

I used to buy 3d blu rays from this guy in Canada. He sold 3d blu ray movies
months before they came out, many only sold overseas, bunch of adult stuff, and few rare ones that were never released for sale. He definitely had connections but I never bugged him for the source. My last contact with him was back in April 2011 at this email nyg.toronto@gmail.com
Good luck.

I see there is a Grandpa Jackass movie set for some time this fall, 2013. Not sure if it's only 2D, but possibly 3D also? I heard the 3D in Jackass 3D was good. I saw the first one and it had a couple very funny skits in there, though haven't seen this one. I would hope one day it would get a blu ray 3D release instead of just anaglyph red/cyan 3D, which doesn't do 3D picture integrity much justice, as it conflicts with the colors of the film.

This is a film I bug Paramount about constantly. They from my understanding do not have any intentions to release a 3dBR of this film, or the extra 3D footage that was wasted in the 2d release of Jackass 3.5.

That being said, depending how badly you want "a" 3D version of this film, there are methods to decomposing the 3D anaglyph copy that was included in the BR release. The idea is this, the 2D version means you have a 1080 clean capture of one of the cameras, whether it was left or right I don't know. Using Virutal Dub, Avisynth, and some smarts from this guy
- he executes a method that converts the anaglyph film back to it's natural state (though it will never be perfect and may end up with a color shade missing). This gives you a version of the other camera, you tweak the colors out to match the best you can and create your own side by side from it.

I've never done this, thought about it, but don't know if it would be worth the effort.

There is a long forum conversation with the author of that video here:

http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/3d-stere...side-side.html

They get more in depth with the method used, and at one point they actually do extract a Jackass 3D scene and it looks pretty damn good.

The original anaglyph:
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/attachme...-jackassrc.jpg

The side by side created with the original 2D + the extracted second perspective:
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/attachme...jackasssbs.jpg

Here's a question I propose, has anyone ever compared the Jackass 3d BR to the Jackass 3d DVD? I wonder if ones 2d version is the left camera, and the others 2d version is the right? Same situation happened with Friday the 13th pt3, there are multiple copies around for sale that contain the separate cameras. With both you could easily create a great looking SBS..
