This would be my pick. I just didn't get sucked into Clockwork Orange. I get what it is trying to say, but I just didn't care for the movie.

That means you got the movie.
The preacher was meant to be stupid and very short-minded.

there are (at least) two different types of movie fans. theres people who appreciate film for the art of the craft itself, and theres people who appreciate film purely for the entertainment it provides.
one isnt right and one isnt wrong its just different points of view.
i would consider myself to fall (mostly) into the first category.
when you look at films that way you can look at a movie that might have a story or theme that doesnt appeal to you and still be able to recognize that its a well made film.

Same here but I didn't need to buy it though Disney sent it to me free for some reason.

Yeah, but it became a battle of which of these totally unlikeable characters do I dislike least. Suffice it to say that I found it hard to identify with.

if i can't get into a movie and i'm not enteretained a little, i dont usually give it a 2nd thought.

the only movie i can think of that i've seen that would fall into this type of category is Brokeback Mountain.

i can appreciate the fact that it's a love story but i'd never watch it again.

Agreed, though I'd place it in my top ten of the last decade. I've seen it four times and I'm still looking forward to the fifth.

But, back on topic, the idea that I cannot like a film but simultaneously accept it as "great" is alien to me. If I didn't like the film, I have my reasons and I simply accept that the people who do like the film are totally nuts.

Maybe it's just because I have a weak stomach.
I've only seen bits and pieces though.

I can understand that. Yea I just go into a film open minded and hope that they are all good. if I leave not liking the film even though the art is there I still wouldnt consider it great. This is all opinion anyway as u judge from your own eyes. I do know people watch and view films differently though. Got Em!!

No sir. I am saying that any film that I personally dont like or think is good no matter how good the acting is or the cinematography, I wont consider it a great film but will give props to the aspects I enjoyed. As for every film I do like, I would not also consider every film I like to be great as some films can be guilty pleasures or just very amusing and very entertaining. I can the difference if a film is great or just enjoyable or both! Got Em!!

For me it's Titanic and A Clockwork Orange. Well made movies, but I just really do not care for either of them at all.

Yup I agree on that one! I've only watched it once but don't really have a desire to rewatch it

I always love when someone is so jazzed up about a movie being great and they have me watch it and I just completely can't get into it or I just fall asleep.
