Tch, I remember walking through the aisle seeing $35-$40 as a standard price for most movies.

$25 seems like a bargain to me

i feel like prices get a lil high right before christmas then in november they drop down to 20 again and stay that way till may, then they slowly creep back up during the summer time. just have a threshold and dont pass it. i been starting to get stuff on eBay and i been getting new releases for 13 bucks shipped.

That's what partly what kept me out of the Blu game especially since I adopted other formats in the past about a year in, think DVD/Divx, think LaserDisc..

Yep.. the prices are kind of high. But I've taking the bait. I just can't wait for deals and shop around just to get a discount. Especially when it comes to new releases.

but to be honest I think $25 is a fair price for a high def movie that you will own for a long time.

The studios would bow and kiss you if they heard you say this.

iron man 2 domestic release costs 49 dollars here, so no I don't think prices are getting higher at all (in USA)

I am currently only buying Blu-Rays that come with DVDs because I currently, well, don't have a blu-ray player anymore, recently moved out of my parents house, so I'm really not buying many movies at all in general.

I think they miss the days of the $35 catalogs and the $40 new releases but 3D will help them sell movies at obscene prices.

It's not you at all. New releases at B & Ms like Wal-Mart and Best Buy are typically $24.99-$29.99. If the particular SKU you want has a DVD and a Digital Copy you can bet that Best Buy and Wal-Mart are going to want $29.99 for it. Now, in comparison, Amazon and DeepDiscount have actually lowered many of their prices. On either site a new release is usually not more than $25-27 and are typically around $19.99-$22.99 around the actual release date. Personally, I have been snagging a few catalogs on eBay for $10 over the last couple weeks that are still $15-20 in the stores so I really can't complain.

Pfft. I remember paying over $100 for LaserDiscs. Rookies

The prices on Blu-Ray in Canada haven't come down much the last couple of years, though I've seen a few cracks lately, like the Se7en Digibook for $19 and Grindhouse for $22.

lol not only that but within 2-6 weeks they are under 20 if not starting at 19.99

These prices are unheard of for such a new format in such a small time frame
