Default And the FUDders are invading Best Buy now too.

Best Buy Looks like HD DVD fanboys are starting to spread FUD on Best Buy's website now.

want my money back 12/04/2007
By gigy Read all my reviews

"I did not like it at all, the quality does not worth the price you pay for it, I want my money back"

Would you recommend this product to a friend?: No

I haven't looked at anything else but am sure there are probably other reviews like this.

they've been doing this on the Future Shop website for ages.. they don't even bother with reviews they just the "rate this product" feature...

All the HD DVD players have high-4's out of 5, while all of the BD players are in the low 1's. The new Sharp player had 50 ratings before it was even in stock, with an overall of like 1.10.

It's pretty pathetic if you ask me, for that many people to go to the effort of doing that (or one person to go to a LOT of effort changing IPs)

hmm..

reminds me of uwe boll and imdb.com people rate his latest movie dungeon siege rather poorly. 4.1 out of 10 with almost 4000 votes.. Only catch is it hasn't been released yet!

mystiksuicide: Many Mac's here as well.... I see some one already called out the dip shit... Most reviews on sites aren't worth even looking at anymore, half the users don't own the product to begin with...

I doubt anyone is seriously going to read reviews on a retailer website if they have a true interest in the format. They need to and most likely will go into a store and see first hand what is truely going on.

I often use reviews like that to judge purchases on things like this. Not blu ray becuase I'm more of a movie guy and keep up with these things. But the last digital camera i bought was based almost entirely on user reviews on different websites.

I use them to help judge the odd movie and videogame purchase as well.

These reviews are a little more powerful to average consumers than you might think.

Agree. User reviews make up part of my decision. However, to use them, there has to be a pretty good number of reviews, and I know I have to discount some of the rave reviews and some of the pans as fanboys (no matter _what_ I'm purchasing, including non-tech). But I definitely take a look. If there are 100 user reviews and the product gets a 1.5 out of 5, I probably ain't going to buy it.

The other more often used tactic is "I have a blue-ray player and an HD DVD add-on for the 360 and HD DVD is sooooooo much better!"

agreed also. i know that these sites are flooded with artards now, so i know to not bother with the reviews for console games and movies now, but i still do use the reviews for other electronic and miscellaneous items. used the reviews from amazon and elsewhere to decide on mounts for my tvs.

I think the man's track record is such as to justify pre-emptive trashing

I have to agree. I also read customer product reviews before buying, but I also look only a reviews that tell me *why* the product was bad, not just that they think it is.

I actually used the ratings on Futureshop.ca when I was buying my upconverting DVD player a year ago... not fully, but I used it to select three or four models out of the 10-15 they sold for further research.

Some people from here are already doing that ...then criticizing them for doing it. Why stoop to that level? You see this stuff on both sides.
