lending discs? that's allowed? granted, there are only three people i lend anything too and we swap movies now and again. of course, im the only one who has gone blu so far

When I lend DVDs, I don't give them the original packaging or the case. I put them in a blank DVD case. The reason? A few years ago, I lent a DVD to someone and it came back with bite marks. Yes, the borrower gnawed onto it. Not on purpose, but it's a bad habit of hers. Ugh.

Yes, Blu-rays are unscratchable due to hard coating. I've only had one unplayable BD from Netflix out of over a hundred, and that one was completely cracked. Much lower ratio than DVD.
On the other hand, HD-DVD has the same surface as DVD with three times the pit density, making them much more suspectible to scratches. Why they thought they don't need better protection, I have no idea. (Maybe because they don't expect the format to last long enough?) enjoy gandalf ![]() |
