Mostly as I'm really struggling to see what the innovation was beyond making it Bluetooth .

I mean, it's a nice controller, and bluetooth is a very smart way to go for a wireless controller for obvious reasons, but I'm really at a lose as to when it's competiting for Technology and Engineering. Just seems odd, especially compared to some of the other stuff that it would be competeting against over the year.

The big part is I misread the news aritcle at first to be that the Sixaxis won the Innovation award, admittantly, it's a "Technology and Engineering" Emmy, which can be quite easier to understand given that is well made .

Um, you know... as much as I like the controller but I thought Nintendo's Wii Remote and the Nunchuk was pretty innovative.

That's just my opinion though.

I heard Nintendo stole Sony's idea for a controller with Motion Sensory and Rumble.

I remember Nintendo coming out with a 'Rumble Pak' out for StarFox 64. Then Dual Shock came when Gran Turismo was released on the original PS. So, how did Nintendo exactly steal it from Sony? Mind you, didn't Sony had to settle a lawsuit with a small company for a patent infringement regarding the rumble feature?

Not trying to spark off a war here, but as far I am aware... Nintendo did not steal these ideas from Sony. I'm not a fanboy of any consoles, but I'm not going to make up some ridiculous claims.

After all, I didn't accuse anyone of stealing ideas. I only said that Nintendo deserved the award more than Sony did in this round.

The Emmy Award for Peripheral Development and Technological Impact of Video Game Controllers

Nintendo
Sony Computer Entertainment America

http://www.emmyonline.org/emmy/advme...s_release.html

Apparently both Nintendo and Sony are being honoured for their innovations in developing their video game controllers over the past decade or more, not just Sixaxis.

Now I understand. At first, I was puzzled about why the Emmys would award Sony for Sixaxis. It makes sense now.

Okie, a bit more sense now. And they are different approaches, so I can understand the use of two different awards [that and they are tech awards so :P]. A bit more sense to me,
