Toy Story 3 - 4.5/5
I think I gave both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 a 4.5/5, but this one was the best out of the trilogy. The reason why I rated it the same as the others was because of the middle of the film. I don't know why, but for me it sorta stalled out and lost it's charm... I got kinda bored. [Show spoiler] The last 1/4 of the film, however, more than made up for that. I loved it and I think it's a great ending, both for this film and for the trilogy. [Show spoiler]

The second greatest WWII sea battle depicted in film next to Sink the Bismarck
FACTS The definition of "capital ship" was formalized in the limitation treaties of the 1920s and 30s. This applied mainly to ships resulting from the dreadnought revolution; dreadnought battleships (also known first as dreadnoughts and later as battleships) and battlecrusers. In the 20th century, especially in World Wars I and II, typical capital ships would be battleships and battlecruisers. All of the above ships were close to 20,0000 tons displacement or heavier, with large caliber guns and heavy armor protection. Heavy cruisers, despite being important ships, were not considered capital ships. An exception to the above in WW II was the Deutschland-class cruiser. Though this class was technically similar to a heavy cruiser, albeit with considerably heavier guns, they were generally regarded as capital ships (hence the British label "Pocket battleship"). The Alaska-class cruisers, despite being oversized heavy cruisers and not actual battleships/battle cruisers, were also considered by some to be capital ships. In the early morning of 13 December 1939, a force consisting of Achilles, HMS Ajax and Exeter detected smoke on the horizon, which was confirmed at 06:16 to be a pocket battleship, thought to be Admiral Scheer but which turned out to be the Admiral Graf Spee. A fierce battle ensued, at a range of approximately 11 nautical miles. Achilles took some damage: four crew were killed, and her captain, W. E. Parry (played by Jack Gwillim), was injured. In the exchange of fire, 36 of Graf Spee’s crew were killed. The range reduced to about 4 nautical miles at around 07:15 and Graf Spee broke off the engagement around 07:45 to head for the neutral harbour of Montevideo which she entered at 22:00 that night, having been pursued by Achilles and Ajax all day. Graf Spee was forced by international law to leave within 72 hours. Faced with what he believed to be overwhelming odds, the captain of the Graf Spee, Hans Langsdorff (played by Peter Finch), scuttled his ship rather than risk the lives of his crew. THE MOVIE The movie has a fine cast, mostly British with the most recognizable to me being Anthony Quayle (Anne of the Thousand Days), Ian Hunter (The Adventures of Robin Hood), Bernard Lee (numerous early James Bond films) and Peter Finch (Network, The Nun's Story, Far from the Madding Crowd and Raid on Entebbe). It should also be mentioned that Christopher Lee (too many films to mention) appears in the film as the Brazilian nightclub owner, Manolo. There are very few movies, The Battle of the River Plate and Sink the Bismarck being the exceptions, where combat between opposing capital ships is depicted, largely because the airplane became the dominant factor in naval combat during WWII. However, of the two films mentioned, this is the only one I am aware of where actual capital ships were used. The producers had the advantage of having elements of the Mediterranean Fleet of the Royal Navy available for their use and USS Salem to play the part of Admiral Graf Spee (although she had the wrong number of main turrets). This meant that they did not have to rely on extensive use of models like most naval war films, although they did make use of a 23-foot model (with details only on the side being shot) in a six-foot-deep tank at Pinewood Studios for scene depicting the scuttling of Admiral Graf Spee, which was assembled from multiple takes from different angles. The Battle of the River Plate was nominated for three BAFTA Awards in 1957, for "Best British Film", "Best British Screenplay" and "Best Film From Any Source." PQ AND SQ I've only seen this film on television and in the form of a 4:3 widescreen DVD before and all I can say is this film looks amazing on BD. The color is beautiful, there is a significant upgrade in detail and ITV Studios did an excellent job restoring this film. This can easily be seen in the Restoration Demo included in the supplements. The audio is free of noise and the vocals are easy to understand. One thing I did notice was the German DTS-HD MA 2.0 soundtrack sounded more robust than did the English soundtrack. However, there are no English subtitles on this disc.
