Nah, you're not alone.

I've just had my first (hopefully only) cancellation, Paris, Texas, and it still appears on their website as "Usually ships in 24 hours". Ah well, back to the wishlist it goes.

My stats so far:

1 Cancelled: Paris, Texas
2 Pending (Pre-Orders): Modern Times, Night of the Hunter
3 Pending (Released): Charade, Days of Heaven, Paths of Glory
4 Shipped: Breathless, Seven Samurai, The Leopard, The Red Shoes

I ordered 10 total for the sale and 3 have arrived. The others are either pre-orders not out yet or "projected to ship by Nov 16th." Looks like I'll get all mine. Not quickly but eventually, kinda like Deep Discount.

Ugh, I got a B&N cancelled order as well, with Paths of Glory... I want my second one canceling now as with one item I don't save anything at all in getting it from them when sending it to the UK (especially as I haven't got the cheapest shipping option)... but apparently it's not letting me cancel that. Oh well, they'll be getting an angry email soon enough...

EDIT: I called them and cancelled both items. They said Paths of Glory is out of stock and they have put in a massive order of them to arrive in the next few weeks... does anyone know when the sale will end?

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but...

Smith recently revealed at a Q&A session in Vancouver in early 2009 that he and the film's cast were currently recording new material for an upcoming Criterion Blu-ray release of the film

Thanks for that info, I still need to pick up cases for Chungking, Bottle Rocket, and 400 Blows.

My copy of Bottle Rocket shipped on the 5th. Waiting for Anti-Christ which is shipping on the 9th and The Thin Red Line on 22nd. Hopefully none of them gets cancelled.

So Bottle Rocket is in one of the older cases?

About to start The Magician. I'm not going to review it, because I have no idea how to put movies in the CC into words other than 'Good' 'OK' 'Sucked', so I'll just say one of those.

EDIT: Wow, that was really intense, exhilarating, and not at all what I was expecting when it came down to it. Max von Sydow = Electric.

Just depends. My B&N had a copy in digipack and one in Scanavo. My personal copy is a digipack bc I've had it for awhile now and I think it's one of the nicer ones.

I hope I get mine in a newer scanavo case.

Anyone here watch the Criterion for Antichrist? I was curious if it was worth picking up. I did see the film and found it fascinating. It's probably some of the best cinematography I've ever seen.

I completely agree. It's just a amazing film, in general. It got a good rating on here, and that's the type of movie, that's so beautifully filmed, that needs to be experienced on Blu-ray, I'm guessing. I pre-ordered it awhile ago.

If you liked the film, why not? (I haven't seen it, but reviews are good wrt PQ/AQ.) E.g., dvdbeaver.

Gomorrah
Summer Hours
Ride With the Devil
Close-Up
Everlasting Moments
The Secret of the Grain

Basically, are any of these titles higher recommended than others? I feel like I have no clue even were to start with these...
I absolutely loved The Secret of the Grain, Gommorah, Everlasting Moments and Close-Up from that group. Can't go wrong with any of those in my book.

edit...I think I'm too late to the party...

So I went to B&N today after work and used my 2 $5 off coupons on Kagemusha and summer Hours. It rang up with no problem, however, the cashier told me I was only supposed to use one coupon per account, as she continued to ring up a second transaction and scan the coupon. She was very nice about it.

Each came to $14.04.

Hopefully, my copy of Antichrist will be waiting for me on Tuesday.

By the way, I love it when I walk into B&N in my Best Buy fatigues and someone stops me and asks where the art books are. I actually just stared at him until HE realized he was a douche.

Considering it's one of the most maligned releases in the entire Collection, I would be really surprised if Chasing Amy gets a re-release. The current BD is far from spectacular and it will take more than Smith vamping up w/ new special features for something with its current high-def PQ to win people over. He'd have to go in and do a lot of work that I don't think he has been doing, judging by following his Twitter account for awhile.

That said, I have always been, unashamedly, a big KS/View Askew fan. I wouldn't mind seeing it in the CC BD collection, but I think it's a long-shot.

Hah, wow.

I was in B&N last night thumbing through a few film books killing time and was asked twice if I worked there (had on a quarter-zip North Face pullover, pair of khaki slacks). I think it's hilarious but the people that ask always get so embarrassed, haha.
