Default My $.02 on Warner and recent BOGOs

This week's news that Amazon had yet another Warner BOGO was surprising, considering the fact that usually BOGOs ran on the same week that the HD DUD camp was celebrating a major release (see Transformers week). Also surprising was the fact that we had just had a recent Warner BOGO sale not too long ago. Add to the deal that the movie lineup was recently updated by Amazon (whose sales count on the Nielsen ratings and no one else has a similar sale where it counts) and that we had a super strong release this week with POTC 3 out on blu-ray as well.

While last week's numbers were again in favor of blu vs hd-dud, the numbers were close, but not as close at Transformers week numbers. Is it possible that Warner is trying to aide the blu camp by hosting a BOGO sale this week, the week of Disney's release, so that next week when the numbers come out the rate of defeat fo the DUD camp is so big that it demoralizes everyone? I mean from previous experiences this should be a strong week again for blue, maybe in the >75% rate. After all, isn't Warner all about numbers?

If they really wanted to be blu exclusive they need data, numbers that show how much blu-ers want them, how much they're spending on their discs, how many discs people buy, etc. Reports after all are what give a product its life.

I guess we can find out next week when the Bourne Ultimatum comes out if the DUD camp really has something up its sleeve. If Warner wanted to help them, they would end the blu BOGO this week and begin the HD DUD BOGO only next week. Its Toshiba's last and only chance to salvage a week this year.

Chances are it won't happen, and here's a Blu-supporter hoping and wishing for a very merry Blu Christmas. My new year's resolution? To support the blu camp all the way.
