I will see just about anything directed by Tony Scott at one point or another anyway (I'm anal that way)... But what really surprised me was that (given the retread quality of the trailer; wasn't it just last Summer that Scott and Washington put out TAKING OF PELHAM 123 - a hostage/runaway train film?!?) not only did Roger Ebert give this film 3 1/2 stars (which is plausible) but the notoriously tough Willamette Week critic here in my hometown of Portland, OR gave it 90/100!?! Wtf?!?

Idk I really love Denzel Washington, but I'm not crazy about the movie itself. Maybe I will go see it.

I'm surprised about all the positive reviews this movie has gotten so far in rotten tomatoes. I'll be seeing this movie tomorrow.

Just got back from watching this movie and have to say it was awesome and kept me on the edge of my seat most of the movie. Another classic performance from Denzel Washington. Thier a reason this guy can name his own price tag to star in a film and this was just another example why he's able to do so. RECOMMENDED 4/5 stars.

This was my new girlfriend and I's choice for our first date, and I gotta say, the movie was AWESOME. It had excellent performances all around, and it was very suspenseful. It's in my list of movies to buy, and I may see it again!

4.5/5 rounded to a 5.

It's getting very good reviews across the board, just under 90% on Rotten Tomatoes for one, & is estimated to make $22-26 million opening wk-end. Let's see where it stands after Two weeks; that'll give a much better idea of where it might end up.

I'm going to see this Sunday - can't wait, as I think it looks very good - great cast, great director, based on a true story...

thanks - I really like the fact that Chris Pine is the co-lead in this. Looks to me as if he could have a very long career at this rate with his choices so far.

It was good, not great. Not the best action/suspense film but should make a worthy blu ray.

At times I found myself laughing at how over the top it was (most movies are these days), but overall a good popcorn flick.

glad to hear your first date to the movies was a success

am i the only one that feels that if the first date movie ends up being a crappy choice (looking at you Hills Have Eyes 2

) that that's a bad sign for the rest of the relationship?

or am i the only one?

that may sound odd but i always feel that it's a bad start to end up watching a crappy movie.
one of the reasons i don't do first dates with a movie

Good call on your part. I saw both yesterday: Unstoppable is very predictable. The characters are not well developed and the acting performances are weak (yes, Denzel too). On the other hand, Due Date was hilarious...funniest movie I have seen this year.
