I'll probably be getting the UK version when it drops in price because I want to avoid the cardboard holding the discs at all costs (as I did with the Alien Anthology and bought from Amazon.UK). Why is Fox doing this with the packaging? I would be all over the US one if it had something more secure holding the discs down.
I know! Just make it a freaking Digipak and, at least, i'll be happy. They're classy and when its only holding 3 discs; not that combersome either!

If the issues around the book were settled I missed it, but (if anyone still cares) the inside back cover of the book notes that it's "excerpted from the Abrams book The Making of Avatar, by Jody Duncan and Lisa Fitzpatrick" -- i.e. this one.

The sample is 42 pages. The full book is 272 pages.

Currently damning my "ooh, shiny!" reaction to limited box set things because, as has been well observed since it was first announced, there's no way this set is worth the money -- the only thing you're paying for is the "I've got something there's only 1,000 of!" factor. They could've at least included the full bloody book.

Just got home to mine been on the table.i am absolutely wounded,play.com should be shamed.just tossed in a bag with no other packaging, not even bubble wrap.£90 and they cant put it in a box with bubble wrap, come on.all i can say is the dents all over it i could accept even at the crazy price but the tear all along the bottom left hand corner means this will be the 1st thing i send back to play ever.(4 years).i will defo be getting a refund as i expect the ones there still selling are returned aswel and could possibly be in worse condition.be aware of number 412.

i really do not know how play can expect to send an item in a plastic bag and expect it to get from Jersey to the UK mainland undamaged - i doubt this packaging would protect much even if you lived in Jersey! I ordered the complete West Wing set from them - plastic bagged only and then TOSSED OVER THE BACK FENCE (BY PLAY.COM'S INSTRUCTIONS APPARENTLY) BECAUSE I WAS NOT IN!!! I WAS LIVED - THE SET WAS A MESS!! Hence, why i will never order a boxed set from Play.com - they used to be my first choice for all dvds/blurays - now i go hmv or amazon....much better packaging..

For those that still buy things the old fashioned way "in shops" be carefull if you pick up Avatar in HMV. They charged me £19.99 but they had other copies priced at £14.99.

I'm gutted for you guys who are disappointed with the LE, just a sample of the book for 90 quid? What a rip-off Fox should be ashamed of themselves. Went to my local ASDA (the bottom of my road) and they didn't even have the blu-ray in their charts only the DVD and no Clone Wars or How I Train My Dragon either (lucky for me they wanted £40 for the The Clone Wars DVD) so I went with the 14.97 blu-ray in Tesco with the 4 art cards (which are nice but scratched up on their surface).

Thrilled with that price but the lady at the checkout ripped the box taking the stupid red security tag off - another slipcase damaged by Tesco. I would have ordered off the internet but every slipcase that comes through the letterbox seems to have at least one crushed corner.

For the guys who have recieved the LE damaged, would you rather get your money back (considering the price is over the top for what you get) and buy the Collector's Edition or try again with the LE?

These Tesco art cards... are they bundled with it on display? i.e. can you see them before you buy? Someone said they were 3D, so presumably lenticular? Just curious as I'm considering whether they're worth getting hold of (and then probably selling the actual BD on eBay what with already owning it )

Talking of eBay, someone just bought the Limited Edition #0004 for £220. I'd been erring towards returning mine to Play, to cost them the p&p and perhaps contribute to teaching them a lesson about decent packaging, but if they're going to be selling for that much... (I appreciate #4 is likely to sell for a lot more than #858!)

I picked up the standard Blu-ray edition at Sainsburys today. Really happy that the price there is pretty much as it is online... £17.99! Just waiting for my mate to come over so we can watch the 3-hour cut!

Thank you very much.

Just one more question: Could you tell me the region and the audio/subtitle options for disc 1 (movie) in the Scandinavian edition?

Your help is really appreciated

They're lenticular the picture moves as you move the card, 2 of Sam Worthington and two of Zoe Saldana and they're sealed at the back of the box.

They sealed to the back of the box, behind a piece of card with all the disc information/film description on it. I haven't opened mine yet, but I think they're the same cards that were bundled with the previous SteelBook release.

I hope that you didn't pay £19.99!

Was tempted to pick this up in-store today, as £14.99 is a great price.

If I was you, I'd stop buying films altogether and start paying for some spelling lessons. Dreadful
