Watched the main "making of" documentary a little earlier... I cannot believe the amount of effort that went into the film! So much done before they even started shooting. For example, they sent a lot of the main cast out to some jungle to "practice" haha!

Watching the deleted scenes was very interesting too. Almost like seeing an alternative version of the movie.

This was one of the reasons why I really wanted to get this edition

I think you'll really enjoy it. Even though I wasn't that thrilled with Avatar when I first saw it at the cinema, this package was too good to resist. Watching the doc you appreciate so much the work that went into making the film. I like the film more now I've seen it again. Pretty cool having 3 cuts of the film on one disc, though I've only watched the Extended cut upto now. While I like the Earth opening, I think this version of the film was perhaps too long, and I think I probably prefer the Theatrical cut for pacing. Not to say there's anything wrong with any of the additional scenes... just that I think they revel in the Pandora world of spectacle, whereas I'm more attracted to the human military side of things. There's plenty more of that in the deleted scenes, and I would rather of had those re-instated for the longer cut personally.

I read something that this actually turned out that they went out to a jungle over a weekend and didn't even camp out. They returned to their luxury hotels at night time. Not that impressive. They didn't even go to the Amazon or somewhere more remote, they went to Hawaii which is where they filmed Lost.

Have watched quite a few of the extras now...and think I'm in love with Zoe Saldana! When she's in her mo-cap suit she's wearing little/no make-up and still looks stunning.

Thumbs up Excellent Blu ray Package

Hi All,

First post on here, got my copy yesterday (thanks superfast amazon!) it really is a great all round pack. Great docs and really like the extended editions. I thought the menus could have been a bit cooler, instead of a branch of a tree across the screen with your options hanging out of it. But a minor detail. Was a tad proud to hear an Irish accent among the heavy weights of the oscar winning special effects team.

John

I've just put the vanilla first release disc in and there is a bd live option been added where you can watch a few bits from the new version. How and when did that happen?

Maybe they need to stop their employees watching a certain movie

[Show spoiler]

I may purchase this when the price goes down, still have the barebones release. I'm not frothing at the mouth to see the extended version just yet. But I'm glad people are enjoying it.
