I agree the transfers could have been better, but they're nowhere near as bad as people make them out to be and definitely a far cry better than the DVD's (which were already reference quality back then).

They could do a restoration, but it would be super-expensive and not necessary after less than ten years.
True, I mean they are good transfers, Fellowship being the weakest, but I still think WB didn't truly restore the films to their best of abilities. My friend has 1080p copies of these on his computer and the person who made them HD did better than WB did, which is sad. The only problem with those are that they don't have the audio quality like real BDs. Anyways, the point is we shouldn't say, "they need a re-boot" because Peter Jackson's vision on these films are just extraordinary that they do not need to re-boot them. We may get our answer with the EE, whenever they come out. Yes, the transfers ok, but they could have been much better.

The acting is perfectly suitable for SW. The story is much deeper than LOTR, and the direction is magnificent and to the point.
Pure magic!

Damn, that would have just been $30 for the trilogy. I'm not a massive fan of these, though I did really enjoy
[Show spoiler]most of
parts 2 & 3; much more action that kept me awake & involved - unlike the first one where I nodded off a couple times (827 characters being introduced kind of does that; shoot me. ). IF that Target ad is correct & each one of these is $7.99 ($24 total), then I'll prob. snag them. The Extended Editions, which most of the fans here Love, (which is Fine), seem like they'd be tooooooo Loonnnggg for me (683 minutes vice 557 = 42 additional mins. per/average ) Again, don't shoot me, just MY thoughts/opinion on the trilogy.

Are you serious? that's exactly what's WRONG with the prequels - they don't require you to think about things at all! The dialogue is full of heavy handed exposition and explanations. I did feel challenged not to get bored, mind, and not to laugh whenever Padme and Anakin had a 'love' scene. The whole thing reads like it was written by a teenager.

Padmé: "I truly... deeply... love you..."
or
Anakin: "You are so... beautiful."
Padmé: "It's only because I'm so in love."
Anakin: "No, it's because I'm so in love with you."
or
Padmé: "Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo; so long ago when there was nothing but our love."

... how deep and complex

Not to hijack the thread, but I think one of the problems of the SW trilogy is that George Lucas perhaps thought his audience ARE morons - else how do you explain ludicrous dialogue such as that...?

Well, you have to remember that Lucas had some young children of his own that he was raising when he started the PQ trilogy, and it is very obvious that they were made with them in mind.

It does make perfect sense.

But yeah, any word on the EE's yet? I wouldn't buy the theatricals on DVD (love the EE's) and won't buy them on BD

Word is they won't come out (if at all) until the end of 2012

Regarding Hugo Weaving, There was a story that, in the tent scene in ROTK where Aragon walks in, he pulls off the hood - with his trademark Agent Smith sunglasses on! supposedly - supposedly - it's one of the outtakes waiting to be assembled. When? only Gandalf knows...

How would I know something like that? Besides these are the kind of movies I'd want to watch outtakes for, those are best left for movies from the Comedy genre.

<Right before Anakin and Padme consummate their love>
Padme: "Oh Anakin, I still see you as that little boy on Naboo."

Arguing with him is a complete waste of time. He just says the most ridiculous things over and over and over again and sandwiches them in between every smiley this forum allows you to post; so the posts always turn out like an entire bag of skittles poured over the ramblings of a stubborn kid.

Arguing with someone who loves to claim that the LotR movies are "chick flicks" and that they don't compare to the "greatness" of the Star Wars prequels... I doubt a bigger waste of time could be found. If you're going to pick a handful of movies to supposedly shame the LotR trilogy, at least pick some that are better than just mediocre.

I just saw individual titles at Costco for $12.99. In case you don't want to deal with the crowd on Black Friday.

Is yours the 3 disc case without the digital copies or the 6 disc case with the digital copies?
I've ordered cases from this seller on eBay and have been greatly satisfied. This seller has Blu-ray cases that hold from 1 to 6 discs. You can choose either Viva Elite or Vortex. Viva Elite would be the ones to get. They're the cases that Warner uses. Vortex are the cases with the lock on the side. They're the cases that Disney and Sony use.
