Samsung support kinda fails. I have the same Blu-ray player but I have a PN50C7000 Samsung 3D Plasma TV. I have not tried to play .mkv files directly through the USC port on the TV but .mkv's work fine through the my BDC-6900 blu-ray player. I think I tried .mkv files through the BD player's USC port. Try playing the files through the player and see if that works. I might be the TV, but I can't see why it would not support .mkv
