Ok so me and my family got toy story 3 and it was a great movie..also got the movie UP which i never saw before..loved it! So i own those...today when i got home from work my family was up watching monsters inc it was on the movie channel starz in hd and it looked great (i have a 65" 1080p samsung lcd) Thinking about buying that..My girl likes the movie princess and the frog..i thought it was pretty good too..I never really paid attention to cartoons much for years...But lately the ones i have seen are interesting and good story lines...I like the ones that are for adults and kids. Just looking for some suggestions of the best cartoons (story & visual wise) to own on blu-ray. Give me your top 3. Thanks

I also second Kung Fu Panda - very funny and has great action and the animation is top notch! And, if your kids like it, you can take them to see Kung Fu Panda 2 coming out this summer. ![]() |

#2) Wall-E (on of must have titles on blu ray, a masterpiece) #3) Kung Fu Panda (incredibly enjoyable film, I havent yet seen a person who didnt absolutely love it, you will laugh to death) For your doughter #4) Beauty and The Beast (IMO best animation with best PQ/AQ available on blu ray, beats Princess And The Frog by a mile, both you and your doughter will absolutely enjoy it) Last edited by Marcus Wright; 11-17-2010 at 01:24 PM. |

My top three would not be good for kids.
![]() Instead, I'll reccomend these three unconventional films: "Castle in the Sky." It's an anime, but it's on a level similar to a classic Disney film, and is family-friendly. Very adventurous, upbeat, fantastic, and fun. And I always felt it's a wonderful imaginative story. "The Secret of Kells." An excellent play on Celtic myth and culture, with a pretty decent story and stylish animation. "Dragon Hunters." Very imaginative and stylish, with lots of incredible imagery. A short and fun flick. |

Wow, nobody has said Avatar yet???
![]() But seriously folks.. I don't know how old your kids are but Coraline is a great animated movie. It's not really too dark or too mature for kids but the last third gets pretty creepy (a lot like some classic Disney, now that I think about it) and might be a bit much for some younger kids. If that's not a deal-breaker then I highly recommend it. The animation is gorgeous and the story and acting were both very strong. Terri Hatcher was even good. Go figure. |

Anything, and I mean ANYTHING from the Disney-Pixar line-up or the classic Disney line-up (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, etc). If you are a fan of animation, then IMHO, all of these are must own titles. Lion King and Finding Nemo will be day 1 buys for me as well. You almost have to get Toy Story and Toy Story 2 since you have the third one already.
As for some great visual films with a nice story, these would be my top 3 pics: 1. Beauty and the Beast (my wife is not a fan off animation, but she absolutely loves this film) 2. Wall-e 3. Polar Express Some animated films geared with adults in mind would be: All of the Shrek films (release date is 12/07/10) All of the Ice Age films Kung Fu Panda 9 After you've seen some of the Disney Princess classics such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and a few others, pick up Enchanted. It starts off as a classic animated Princess movie, but it turns into live action and is a great companion piece to watch after seeing the older ones. |

Pixar has not made a bad movie in my opinion- though they are not equal of course. Topping the list I'd say
Incredibles (coming soon) Toy Story 1-3 Wall*E Monster's Inc A Bug's Life Ratatouille And the most "kiddie" of them are Finding Nemo and Cars- that being said- kids really loved them. Nemo isn't out on blu though so hold off probably. Additionally Beauty and the Beast How to Train Your Dragon the Shrek movies Lion King (coming in the Spring) The DC Animated movies are good (particularly Batman:Under the Red Hood, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern [which could gear boy children up for the movie and animated series next year]) but might be too violent (they're PG at least I think). |
