What happened to TMT 4?

EDIT: Use coupon code ARC404P20 for 20% off the retail or upgrade price.

I was wondering that myself. Odd how they just skipped an entire number.

Coupon code CABINARC20 works too.

Thanks for the other coupon.

I was just thinking that maybe someone at Arcsoft is superstitious of the number 4.

^^^ Haha that's a possibility!

I like the new interface. It's less clumpy. Menus load a bit faster. Didn't notice any video improvement (not that it's a bad thing). Happy with the purchase.

I think I have the basic 3(or is it 3.5) that came with my tv device. I wonder which upgrade I can choose. I don't want to spend $79 (that's the price that matches closest to what I have) for an upgrade if there is not much improvement. Hmmm.....

When you select one of the upgrade buttons it will prompt you for your arcsoft web site username/password. Based on the version(s) you have registered, at least for me, it will take you back to the page with a filtered lists of valid upgrade options of which you can select from.

It will come down to $47 if you use the sale code cyber2010. It's worth it.

I am going to wait for the retail box version to be released since I perfer a CD-ROM with printed manual versus a download version.

Was the retail version ever released for TMT3?

You can buy a backup CD already even though I'm not sure if it comes with a box or not.

I bought the so-called boxed version TMT3 and was very disappointed. It was just a DVD movie case with the disc in it and cheap-looking paper insert on the outside. No manual. And the key came on a piece of paper stuck to the inside cover. The program is top notch but the packaging sucks. This time around I went for the download version of the upgrade and sprung for the extended download period.

It seems printed manuals for software are a thing of the past. Remember the good old '90s when apps like CorelDRAW came with about 10lbs of manuals and clipart catalog listing each and every image included?

But i digress...
Anywho... Just a note: A nice feature I discovered in TMT5 quite by accident is that you can drag subtitles around on screen to any position you like. This is very cool for constant image height projectors hooked up to home theater PCs.

The backup CD is just a CD-R; no box.

I think you're confusing TotalMedia (TM), ArcSoft's TV-tuner software, with TotalMedia Theater (TMT), their player software for BDs, DVDs, and other A/V files. They are two different programs, despite both being called "TotalMedia". AFAIK, owning TM (any version) does *not* give you upgrade pricing for TMT5.

TM's current version is 3.5, but it's more commonly found as an OEM product with TV tuners than as purchased software. OTOH, the TMT3 series only reached version 3.0.1.185 before jumping to TMT5; while its competitors generally own the OEM space, if my experience is typical (it probably is), most copies of TMT were purchased as retail downloads by HTPC owners tired of the problems with other players (especially PowerDVD).

Damn!

One day too late. I've been thinking about upgrading. I just don't know if the sleeker interface is worth it as I don't care about 3D support.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have another coupon coming up for the new year.
