QuasidodoJr's Movie of the Week: It Happened One Night

This thread is dedicated to discussing one movie at a time. The particular movie up for discussion will be cycled every two weeks. The first week will be for members to view the film. The second week will be spent discussing, breaking apart, and analyzing the film. The purpose of this thread is to give members a chance to share their appreciation of a particular film with others.

Anybody can participate in the discussions, but the movie of the week will be chosen by one member at a time, each modest contributors of https://forum.blu-ray.com/movies/127...sion-club.html thread. The order in which each member will have their turn to pick a movie is decided by a randomly generated list of aforementioned users from that thread that offered to participate. The rules will be amended as we go along.

Each member will announce their movie pick of the week during the previous discussion week to allow adequate time for accessing a copy of the movie.

Good idea. Spoilers should be used during the first week though (while everyone gets a chance to watch the film). Let's say no spoilers from discussion week forward. Also, discussion on past selected movies is allowed to bleed into weeks following.

FYI: i think one of the "rules" we should add should be:

some people will be dropping in and out, and for different reasons, (Diesel and Q! might join) but i think since they will be busy with other stuff and won't be focused on this group deal as much as some of us, they're obviously welcome to join, but i think they should be excluded from choosing so they don't have to focus on that aspect of it.

of course, if they want to choose, they could, but i figured if they wouldn't be with us the entire time, they wouldn't want to come up with a choice for viewing.

just my 2 cents

My main problem will be getting hold of some of the movies. I don't have Netflix. I use the library sometimes and have multiple cable options, but some will be hard to get within the time allowed.

I was about to suggest this

You should have to be considered "full time" to be able to choose the movie.

Dont you Northern fellas have a service like Netflix called Zip?

it's only available on dvd (i know, i know) and is available on netflix instant currently

with thankgiving coming up, that's usually a time most of us are busy with family and whatnot, so i think the time frame should be, roughly:

November 20, 2010 - November 30, 2010: for watching
and then of course, any time to discuss it from November 20, 2010 until, i don't know December 5, 2010?

does that sound good and seem reasonable?

Interesting choice; I almost rented it a long time ago, but took it off my list in favor of something else. I should definitely have a copy in hand within the next couple of weeks.

to be honest, i'm pretty sure i haven't even seen it yet myself but i've seen the 2002 version a few times, which i love. although this version is twice as long, so it'll be interesting to see what the 2002 version didn't have. but i have a feeling they will both be entirely different films, just with the same main plot.
