I don't know from which site you guys are ordering, but from Amazon.uk wont't take more than 10 days with normal shipping. Again the shipping charges will get compensated with VAT return, its almost like free shipping on actual price.

Well even then you might end up paying extra for shipping from Amazon US but won't be much of a difference in delivery time. I do got couple of discs from Amazon US which were delivered in 15 days.
8 weeks for delivery is really ridiculous unless one made a pre-order of a disc which will be released after 6 weeks

under the normal post Amazon.com does take 4-5 weeks for delivery unlike Amazon.co.uk which delivers in 10-15 days. But i have always had to pay duty on my UK Packages ( just paid for my Alien Anthology set) unlike the US packages

To clarify any doubt regarding amazon uk 's shiiping to specifically Bangalore India, I ordered 3 bu rays from uk amazon on last Sunday 2nd April 2011 and received the delivery today- Just 6 business days in total is what it all takes to here. It comes via general post and so, the Only caviat here is the shipment is not trackable while in transit if that is seriously important to any of you guys.

Second about duty, Zero duty thats right i dint pay a single rupee extra while taking delivery.

Thirdly about shipping charges- Zero again. thats right as it has been already stated by some one in another thread, as of now shipping of BDs and DVDs to india is FREE !!! from amazon .co.uk.

Guys this is ur chance. This is hereby my confirmation that no one shd have any reason to wait before this limited period free shpping offer closes on May 15 2011. All you will be paying is the original price of discs themselves. period. Hope that helps anyone concerned about this.

Default Inception

Just an FYI

Anyone from bangalore if missed out on watching inception on the big screen and big sound, here is your chance.

Starting tomorrow, Inception is being re-released for 1 week in Urvashi Cinema, Bangalore - great chance to revisit the film in one of the most fantastic digital projection and sound equipped theatre in the country.

Guys,

I was at my Local Starmark today and they have lots of Hollywood BDs at BOGOF offer of which I am interested in the following.
  • West side story
  • Thin red line
  • The omen
  • Millers crossing
  • Manhattan
  • Annie hall
  • The apartment
  • All about eve
  • Blue velvet
  • Kalifornia

What I'd like to know is if the quality of these BDs are similar to UK/USA release. I assume they are, but want to confirm with members here might have bought some of these titles.

With the offer, they are like INR 499 each.

Manhattan looks great to me, though I don't have any comparisons to the US/UK editions. A friend of mine will be getting The Apartment and Thin Red Line to check out at my place,

Thanks for your feedback on Manhattan. IIRC, I read somewhere that the same US BD sources are used in India for replication and licensed for distribution in this region.

Where did u read that ? If u go thru the forums u will see there have been innumerable times when Indian consumers have got ripped because of the sub par releases specifically by Fox thru Excel and Disney. Most of the titles u mention are Excel and hence Fox. So I would be a bit cautious on their output.

Anyways you get what you pay for. At 499anything is a bargain. Of course Blue Velvet I think is released by Discovery and this may be their only BD. also thin red line in US is Criterion. So u can't expect Criterion quality at Rs. 499
