They should just have him stop talking about it at this point. He's become a target

Wrong. The war will not be over until Universal, Paramount and Warners are all BD exclusive. Remember the Paramount/Dreamworks deal that no one saw coming?? while unlikely to happen again, don't count your chickens before they've hatched.

Also, like was said above, if Stringer is going to make comments, he should make positive ones, or none at all. I think the companies with a vested financial interest in Blu-ray would agree.

Good money says that on AVS the mods let this article pass as "fact" while just the other day they censored all mention of the Business Week's bullish blu article quoting Michael Burns (Vice Chair of Lionsgate) as "rumor"

I agree 100%. He is a CEO, not a PR Officer. The HD DVd zealots are looking for any excuse to disperse FUD, and frankly one gets tired of it.

The very same fanboys who have zero creibility.

Do you really think mega corporations take any notice of these insignificant ittle idiots?

Tell them to go f*** their mother and leave 'em to stew, they're desperate.

Last time he was "quoted" that Blu-ray was behind... it was completely taken out of context by the AP! He was talking about the price of the BD players and not the sales or anything else. He was saying that they were unable to compete in a price war against a single company able to drop their prices to anything while the BDA has many companies manufacturing players.
THis is the SAME THING. Taken out of context completely. It is very easy to make someone look like they are saying something else by picking and choosing your quotes and surrounding it with twisted information.

Nothing what occurs on the forums around the internets is going to make a damn bit of difference.

If Warner jumps ship on HD DVD, then you can rub it in their lying faces.

Personally, I am going to sit back and watch the HD DVD Red defense brigade completely fall apart when they start trying to spin a Warner defection.

HD DVD is not going to hit its numbers, period.

I am counting my chickens, Warner are going Blu, the rest will fall in line like a stack of cards.

Let's quit with the stepping on egg shells bullshit, the market, worldwide, is hugely in Blu-rays favour.

Warner would have to be the biggest dumbasses in the history of dumbass corporations to take a short term incentive when the DVD money trough is declining at an alarming rate.

Time to stop worrying about paid shills, HD-DVD fanboys and the latest looney conspiracy theory.

This is big business, they all know what they're doing, we're insignificant in the game they're playing.

Getting into a frezny over a totally insignifcant comment shows how crazy this things become.

What's more for him to do if it has been reported that he was personally calling on Warner to get the deal done?

I think he's doing a LOT right now...he's just being reserved for a couple of reasons. Remember, after this thing is over, all of these people at the CE's and Hollywood Studios are going to have to work together (except for Nickerson, Graffeo, and Bell).

Anyone who thinks HD-DVD isn't essentially dead on the spot the second Warner would announce BD exclusivity is delusional and only kidding themselves.

Good. That's what I would expect.

Again, I remember Max and some others telling us to filter Stringer's comments through the understatement meter for better translation.

You are 100% correct.

I was shocked when I read that quote, if the CEO of my employer said something like that I'd go straight to Monster and find a new job haha.

It is definitely extremely strange to hear the HD content leader speaking with a total lack of confidence. I can't understand where this defeatist attitude is coming from. Perhaps he's just burnt out on the whole format war, sees no end in sight and is venting his frustrations. CEO's are ALWAYS speaking confidently and victoriously no matter what. Just turn on CNBC any day of the week and you'll hear CEO's bragging about how great they're doing etc etc etc. It is their job to put the best spin on things so this behavior is just really really odd. Having the right CEO at a time like this is essential. One man at the top can make a HUGE difference. Just look at Steve Jobs...

Yep exactly, this sends a wrong message. Would love to hear someone from Fox or Lionsgate react to this.
