LOL it's Gusteau but yeah, I would need a LOT more training to run a restaurant though. Cannot get over how good Bolt is, Travolta is awesome as a little dog that just wants to find his "person".

Tangled

I went to see Tangled with my five year old daughter last night. We both loved it. The story is well handled, beautifully balancing action, comedy and melodrama. The animation is top notch. There is a flooding quarry scene with water that will have you gasping for breath. 3D is used to great effect. Make no mistake, this movie was meant to be seen in 3D. There were a number of shots that had my daughter reaching for floating lanterns and butterflies. Thankfully none of it felt gimmicky (save for a one second clip of Flynn climbing down a rope). The only improvement I could envision would be a minor rewrite of a somewhat cumbersome narrated set-up at the beginning.

With the benefit of 20 hours of hindsight, I can honestly say that this is the best film to come out of Disney proper since Beauty and the Beast. At its core is a classic Disney princess fairytale for little girls to love - but there is plenty to hold everyone’s attention. The characters are very well developed. The animals are often more fascinating than their co-stars; the horse in particular seems to think he’s a pig, hogging the audience’s full attention during his scenes. That isn’t to say the humans are dull, but only compared to a brilliantly exaggerated quadruped and chameleon.

I’m not ready to say this will join the pinnacle of the Disney catalogue, but it is certainly an honourable return to form. At present I would rate this 4.5/5.

Do you agree?

Plus, add to that my own dream of owning and operating a restaurant, and you get an idea why its my all time favorite animation.
You know how much i love Ratatouille but Pixar's best work visually is WALL-E. Some of those scenes don't look like CGI. Looks like the real deal so hats off to WALL-E for amazing specs.

Yesterday i watched the old school Batman with Michael Keaton. Ok first off i like the movie so don't take the following wrong but The Dark Knight makes this movie look horrible on every level. Everything is better in the Dark Knight. EVEN THE EXTRAS. Ebert said it best "Batman is no longer a comic book". Once again i still like Batman because its still cool but "The Dark Knight" is better in every way. Im pretty sure many of you don't care but i had to rant about that.......

Adventureland (DVD)

Finally got around to this one and its good. It has a 80's theme, funny moments but overall a nice drama feel to it. It wasn't great but i still had a good time watching it. Wont be buying it because it wasn't a shocker or something i can see myself watching over and over. But for what its worth the movie is worth a rental. I don't know wether to give it a 3.5 or a 4 so im gonna go with 4. But this is a one hit for me.

4/5

Put these on the MUST "get to it some day list". Just put them on a list so they are not lost or forgotten. These are all serialised....its the only kinda TV I can do.

1. Damages: Glen Close leads heavy hitter all star cast in this legal drama. There is no court room stuff, its all the behind the scenes corrupt, evil, heavy drama.

2. Deadwood: Yeah, its a western, so what. You want dialogue and characters that ooooze authenticity? Brought to you by the same good folks as Rome. This show may have the best dialogue in the history of TV. Poetic soliloquy, utilizing the F word 1.56 time per minute.

3. Breaking Bad: Its winning a zillion awards because it deserves it. This show shouldnt work. The "good guys" cook meth. Dont ask, just check it out. Incredible writing and acting and chemistry (no pun intended)

4. LOST: Best TV show in the history of forever. You want to feel involved and care about characters? Here it is.

I consider all these shows to be written, directed, acted and shot better than 95% of what makes it to the theaters nowadays.
Damages - I've always wanted to check this out. Legal dramas are not my thing, but as you pointed out, it seems to offer a fresh take. Plus, I crush on Rose Byrne (speaking of women, I just realized the babe from Firefly is in Mad Men ).

Deadwood - I don't fancy westerns but will give it a try sometime.

Breaking Bad - My roommate (a chemist) has seen the first few seasons and said it was good but not great. I will definitely watch this one day though.

Lost - One day, Squid. One day.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I do that with my comedy shows like Modern Family. Plowing through episodes of comedy shows just ruins the experience imo. I love having an episode of Modern Family to watch here and there. Linear shows are not as easy to follow broken up though, especially when I can only fit in a couple movies a week until my binge-watching over the holidays. Plus, intermittent watching makes it easier to just drop shows I'm not interested in, which tears up the completist inside me. I'll keep it in mind though.

Ever get to Elite Squad?

Sideways

Director: Alexander Payne
Writers: Rex Pickett and Alexander Payne
Mains: Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church and Virginia Madsen

"Man! That's tasty!"

Plot (IMDb): Two men reaching middle age with not much to show but disappointment, embark on a week long road trip through California's wine country, just as one is about to take a trip down the aisle.

My Take: This is Great film on every level. I didn't think i would enjoy this film as much as i did and im kinda curious how this movie didn't win best picture. "Million Dollar Baby" is great don't get me wrong but this film will become greater as it ages..... This movie host everything you would look for in a good movie. It has allot of humor both intelligent and direct. The emotional factor fluctuates allot to. One of the best parts of the movie to me is when Maya is describing the life cycle of wine. She got so in-depth about wine it felt like i was living through her. The movie also has allot of drama. The cinematography is great, you can tell the director is right there the entire time. I especially liked the scene when Miles was on the phone with his ex-wife, the camera angles where amazing.

Conclusion: Sideways was a shocker for sure, its a good movie will great replay value. It has comedy, drama, and like i mentioned the drama get pretty deep at times. Now that i think about it this has to be the BEST dramedy i've seen so far. Not to mention after watching this film you might wanna start wine tasting. Im thinking about going out right now and seeing what all the hype is about. Sideways is a great movie that will become greater with repeated viewings. This movie comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. "Smell the wine, don't be shy!"

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

it just didn't do anything for me

certainly didn't help that i ABSOLUTELY HATE all four main actors (didn't know who was in it when i rented it lol otherwise i would have avoided it all together). i didn't find any of it funny. felt very... uneven, and even cheesy at times like it was trying too hard to be something i should care about.

i used to never stop a movie without finishing it so when i fell asleep half way through i had to wake up the next day and finish it. i was quite displeased with having to do that

cannot believe it got so many award nominations. i found that baffling and still do to this day.

Well thats why. I hate Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf, so any movie that they are in kill it for me. Only movie that i cant stand because of how cool it is, is TRANSFORMERS.

But the movie was a gem to me. Sorry you didn't like it.

so... what you're saying is, is that Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was your most anticipated movie of 2010... and you loved it... correct?
