No I think its because movies are so expensive given the enjoyment per dollar measurement. I mean think about it, you spend $23.99 on a bd movie that will give you about 2 hours of enjoyment. But video games on the one hand will can give you 10 hours 1st time playing, even Heavenly Sword took me about 8 hours. So a movie is more than 1/3 the price of the video game but only gives you 1/5 the enjoyment. Now if you like to watch movies again and again then you expand this enjoyment, but there are also people who play Heavenly Sword on a more difficult setting after beating it.

Then there are games like Oblivion where 200 hours and I haven't beaten the main quest yet. And I want to try another character, a mage perhaps. Think about the enjoyment per dollar there.

So games aren't actually expensive in real terms, nominal at $59.99, yes, but not real. Thats why you don't see that many deals on it.

And the sudden price drop also happens in movies. A new dvd will sell at $19 at wal-mart. A year later its down to twelve, a 37% drop. Most (good, well reviewed) video games selling at $59 will only drop by $10 to $49 after a year, only a 16% drop.
