I love this series, can't wait for Season 2.
season 1 just finished on BBC2 last friday, with the BD coming this monday. Unlikely to see season 2 until 2008, and that would be after ireland having broadcast it (Ireland being the country of origin)

Season 1 ended in the US last June.

I'd heard that Season 2 was supposed to begin in January, but it's very possible I made that up unknowingly

The ads just say 2008 for Season 2.

A few questions:

has anyone seen the Robin Hood 5 disc series set? Is this worth ordering? Here it is:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Robin-Hood-C...7486217&sr=8-1

also does anyone know if the BBC version of The Tudors was edited/censored?

i'm pretty sure the BBC censored HBO's Rome when it was released in U.K.

Robin Hood is quite good, although IMO, not as good as tudors. the sheriff is funny.

BBC Version of Tudors? I'm not sure, but on the BD cover, it said "As seen in BBC", and the rating for the BD is 15 years old. Seems to me only canada censored the sex scenes.

Just got it today, here's a micro-mini review:

On my US PS3, it loaded up with no problems. Like other newer Sony titles (SM3, for instance), it not only tells you the name of the show and the disc #, it also includes an icon for the discs (the "T" of swords on a red field) if you have a PS3. Kinda cool and useful. The menu is scenes from the show, and although I didn't see any "naughty bits", it's probably not best to have it playing when the little folk are around. Of course, neither is the series.

And how's the PQ and AQ? Well, the picture is very very good, certainly better than the Showtime broadcast from my Comcast DVR that I compared it to. Don't be fooled by the grainy footage in the main menu, this one is relatively noise-free. It is a tiny bit soft, but this may well be an intended effect. Colors (including *ahem* fleshtones) are right on. Personally, I don't think I could call it "reference", but it's easily a 4 or even 4.5. And the uncompressed PCM is great, although it doesn't get pushed a lot. This is a very dialog-centered show, with a lot of quiet scenes for all the plotting and ne'er-do-welling going on. But go to a scene like the tennis or jousting bits from the first episode, and it's easily superior to the DD track. Even when it's quiet, the sound is great. There's a scene on a river, mainly rowing and ambient noise, and it sounds like you're right there on the bank. Since it's not really pushing the limits of the soundtrack, I would likely say it's a 4.5, but a 5 for what it's supposed to do.

Other than that, it's just some fluff interviews (in 480p) and some trailers (in 1080p), including one for "Across the Universe", which comes out on BD in just a little while. The features look like they could be slightly different but are most likely just as fluffy and useless. You don't get the free episodes of other SHO shows, but I could care less.

Verdict: Easy buy. At ~$35 (+$6 if imported from the UK), it's only $7 more than the US DVD set, and it's all-regions. If you are in any way a fan of the show, go for it. A gorgeous show like this deserves hi-def, and Sony did it right. Sucks to be an HD DVD fan, since there's no evidence they'll be getting this from Paramount or anyone else.

BTW, there's something about an "uncut" version in Canada, but no one knows what (if anything) is different. This certainly has all the flesh (mmmm...Anne Boleyn), moans, smacks, and blood that I remember.
