No, it refers to both of the characters. The thief at the beginning, and Maggiorani's character. VOILA! Bicycle Thieves.

Still waiting for 2 of them

Thank you I really appreciate it. The only Criterion movies I have is Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Thin Red Line which will be delivered today. Just starting to get into this whole Criterion thing.

I'm new to Criterion as well. Like you said, I have only The Curious Case for Benjamin Button. Soon I would like to get Paths of Glory, House, Yojimbo, and 7 Samurai.

So I had placed an order for Seven Samurai, it was in my gold box this morning + an additional $10 off promo that Amazon had extended to me after ordering Back To The Future Trilogy which I got for $24.99 during cyber monday's lightning deal. Here's the breakdown.
Can't wait to receive it.

Item(s) Subtotal: $36.49
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Gold Box Discount: -$1.82
Promotion Applied: -$10.00
-----
Total Before Tax: $24.67
Estimated Tax To Be Collected: $0.00
-----
Grand Total: $24.67

Anything helps.

I'm having a moral dillemia, should I keep my copy of The Man Who Fell To Earth that I got for a great price or should I sell/trade it for better stuff?

Need opinions!

I love Raising Arizona (I know many do, and many don't) and I actually own Knowing and thought it was a decently entertaining flick...... and I thought Matchstick Men was pretty good too. Don't remember Windtalkers or Adaptation well enough to comment on those, and never saw Gone in 60 Seconds or 8MM because they looked terrible.

Honestly.... when I saw that shirt, I thought it was supposed to be funny because both Cage and Travolta are douches

I guess the fact that the movie Face Off exists, ruins the humor in the shirt for me.....

Perhaps a Shirt that says "Gary Oldman" with a picture of "Christopher Walken" would be humorous, because they're both creepy

I still have a $25 gift card (Amazon) that I got after earning 2500 points on my Amazon VS cc. Thinking of using this for Yojimbo Sanjuro.

Keep it.

If you change your mind, it will cost you more in the long run.

I personally would say go for it. Yojimbo is such an awesome movie. I saw on TMC on demand. This movie was the inspiration for A Fistful of Dollars.

I know, right? Unlike most teenagers my age, I like modern movies as well as the classics.

Not just a Godard thing. Many black and white movies have white subtitles, making them very difficult to read on a white screen. A while back some folks tried to "solve" this problem by using yellow subtitles and/or a black edge on the letters. That's hard to do when the subtitles are on the film itself, as is the case with many old foreign movies.

I have no problems reading white subtitles in black and white films. To me, at least, they don't get me out of the movie as yellow subtitles. But I do agree that for older fullscreen movies, they're much harder to read, then say, a modern movie made in widescreen.

What's the problem? Do you not like the film?

If you don't like the movie why in the world would you want to keep it?

If you're keeping it solely for the sake of being a completist then you're a fool, I'm afraid.

Would you stay in a relationship with someone, too, if you didn't like them?

I get what you are saying, but I actually find the plural less literal and more metaphorical. Yes there are the two people you mention, but with the plural, I think it is easier to think about who else is to blame or plays a role.
[Show spoiler] The wife? Bruno? The people who prevent Antonio from having the thief held accountable?
This is all making me realize that it has been way to long since I watched the movie. Time to dust off the old DVD copy!
