Superbad has a bigger hype than knocked up and growth has to be taken into effect too. When i went to best buy today they had NO superbad's left and a bunch of POTC(altho i'm sure they stocked a helluva lot more)

A friend of mine is a manager at Best Buy, and they got 50 copies of Superbad Blu-ray in his store on tuesday. It was sold out Sunday. It is going to to GREAT. The numbers are going to be UGLY for HD DVD....Too bad...

While anecdotal, that's a very good sign.

Those 10 free HD DVD movies with a purchase of a HD DVD player is really giving HD a boost on Amazon's numbers. Next week's numbers will be interesting.

Not realy.
Only 3 movies out of the 10 count towards the numbers... here's the breakdown:

2 movies bundled inside the player = they don't count
5 movies sent via the mail-in-rebate = they don't count
3 movies of choice reduced to 0$ each = they count

I think the best way to tell a good week from a 'bad' week is if DV leaks the figures.

I see no hint from him this week...

I just was going to mention that. :-)

I think this week's numbers are going to be VERY good. Yet another ass-whooping to send the red ants scurrying.

At $0 they will not be included.

Chances are that they put the discs in at half-off and reduced the price of the player by the corresponding amount.

True. I noticed for the Black Friday week he suddenly didn't know what the results were.

He probably didn't.

His sources are quite clearly pro-HD DVD, I doubt they would give him data that doesn't support HD DVD so he could leak it.

Dave Vaughn leaked the 66:34 week of Shrek 3. I dont see how ANYONE could call that a bad week for bluray.

I have had several conversations with Dave and I seriously dont believe he is a guy with an agenda. He gives an honest opinion and he had very high praise for blurays accomplishments as of late. One of the beliefs that he has is that right now HD-DVD has a better infrastructure to handle massive demand for discs than bluray does. Thats probably true, but everyone knows that once we end this war, all of that will improve dramatically.

Im not going to defend every post that Dave Vaughn has made, but I can say that he is NOT one of the BAD bad guys.

Guys like Rob Enderle and Amir, NOW those guys have an agenda.

Except that he DID say it was a bad week for Blu-Ray, that they should have won by more...

Dave Vaughn is only as good as his sources, that is the problem with being a journalist.

His sources are pro-HD DVD, so pretty much all of his insider knowledge will be pro-HD DVD.

His sources inside the BDA are limited to say the least, so when people ask him about Blu manufacturing he hasn't got the best info to go on from the right people. He would have to go to the other side (you know the one who aren't known for their honesty and integrity) for info, which is inevitably wrong or outdated.

Thanks and Dave did acknowledge to me that he does get a lot of info from pro-HD-DVD sources and he does his best to take those with a grain of salt. Obviously a lot of bluray supporters dont feel that way.

He said he would not leak the numbers until the prediction thread was closed for guesses at AVS, it closes for guesses at 4 PM EST. If they haven't been leaked by 7 that would mean he probably won't leak them.

HD-DVD is selling better than blu-ray on amazon these pst few days. Im worried they might win this week. I hope blu comes through.

It's only cause of their BOGO. Looks like someone over there finally got smart and figured out to do a BOGO on the week of their big release. Don't worry, though. It'll be fine.

DUD is having a BOGO on Amazon right now, thus they probably are higher. Once the BOGO expires, it will be back to normal. Wouldn't worry, Amazon numbers are not to predictive of the final numbers.
