Dragon Lee, I put a disclaimer underneath the cover stating I made it. Not the official cover. I just took the poster, cropped the top off of it. I can't wait to see it. The U.S. theatrical release is January 14, 2011, which is oddly a Tuesday. Maybe a VOD release of the film.

Looking forward to this movie. I love tony jaa's films. Does anyone know what ONG BAK 2 was about i was very confused watching it. I only watched it once I own it on blu-ray. I remember being bored of the film maybe because i Did not know whats going on? I was not going to get this film, if it ended up being like the second one very little action in it. However Ong Bak 3 looks alot more entertaining, So I will be picking it up on Blu. I tried looking for a English Dub Torrent Of This Film, but i have had no luck.

[Show spoiler] And that is it and it's where part three continues off with the story. It's kinda like what the Wachowski's did with Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. Ong Bak 2 gets a lot of bad rep, but supposedly Ong Bak 3 finishes the story. Ong Bak 2 really seems to have no connection to Ong Bak at all, but supposedly this film is where it ties it all together and if you noticed on the US poster for Ong Bak 3, it uses an image of Tony Jaa from the first Ong Bak. |

Yes Onk Bak 3 is where Ong Bak 2 left off and what happened to Tien before his demise. It really does not have much to do with Part One. Part 2 was killer and cannnot wait for the third installment due out in February.
Long live Tony Jaa the martial arts master!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Well, the film does explain the origin of the Ong-Bak statue (even how it got the "scar"). Also, I wonder if the village at the end of the film is Nong Pradu, the village where Ting, Jaa's character in the original, had lived.
Also, yeah, I think these two films get a lot of crap. If anything, Ong Bak 3 is a dramatic departure from the other two films as it's more spiritual and philosophical. However, when people see the name Tony Jaa, they unfortunately expect nothing but mindless action... amazingly choreographed and fun action, but still mindless. Ong Bak 2 shows a man who was lived his life through nothing but pain, violence, sadness and anger. When what stability is taken away from him by the end of the second film, [Show spoiler] , he is spiritually broken, only to be sent to be literally physically broken...That being said, Ong Bak 3 is about the same man trying to understand his purpose in life and become revitalized physically and reborn spiritually. Plus, he learns to take his abilities as a fighter and use them to establish peace, rather than bring about more pain and violence. Now, all THAT being said... Ong Bak 3 will disappoint the hardcore martial arts fans. It's obvious Tony Jaa was experimenting with a deeper subject at hand (self awareness and enlightenment), which doesn't always mix well with action when it comes to mainstream films. This would also possibly explain his departure from filmmaking and his current status as a monk. However, if you take Ong Bak 3 as "Ong Bak: The Beginning - Volume 2", and the second half of a much larger film (with OB2 being the first half/Vol 1, obviously), I think it can be more enjoyable. But, this is just my tangent... don't mind me ![]() |

If what you say is true about Ong Bak 3 I will still love it. I love martial arts but I like it within the story and if there is a good story and less martial arts action ok as Tony Jaa proved to me in Part 2 that he can handle the emotional scenes too.

Coming from someone just looking for great fight choreography, and great stunt work, I thought Ong Bak 3 was terrible.
If Jaa ever comes back to film making, he needs to get back with Prachya Pinkaew, and start making some real good martial arts movies again. |

A couple of things to keep in mind:
In actuality, THE PROTECTOR is the real ONG BAK 2 (as it is titled in Thailand), as (once you put it in context with the first ONG BAK) it is a fairly typical sequel in how it is a semi-direct follow-up with the action being increased. ONG BAK 2 and 3 are more about Tony Jaa visualizing his philosophy to the audience. They are not really about action or even ticket sales. In a way (as I joked to my friend while watching ONG BAK 3), one could call ONG BAK 3 (or both for that matter) THE PASSION OF THE JAA, as it really is about him surpassing the need to "kick asses". Overall, I think I might like ONG BAK 3 better than 2 BECAUSE of the philosophical angle. If anything, it reminded me a lot of Alejandro Jodorowsky's EL TOPO and THE HOLY MOUNTAIN (even down to Tony Jaa growing the beard and looking very... well.. "Jaa"dorowskyish) For those wanting to see him make a more mainstream action movie again, that may never be, as he abandoned the filming of ONG BAK 3 in mid-shoot and joined a monastery. The producers hunted him down and made him finish the film. Afterwards, he went back to the monastery and has sworn off making any more films and is devoting the rest of his life as a monk. |

I think the fight choreography and stunt work was just as top notch as his other films. There were plenty of OH SH*T! moments with the things that happened to Jaa (in the beginning with the 13 punishments) and the things happening from Jaa (hell, the way he was using those elephants at the end when fighting an entire army single-handed?!? Don't tell me that was not pure awesomeness). If there was anything to complain about, it is the long stretch of non-fighting in the middle of the movie.
