Question about HDMI Audio

My receiver is an older Onkyo model that does not have HDMI, and I am primarily gaming on my setup, so the HDTV is serving as the audio "hub" in my system for my XBox 360, PS3 and Wii, so it makes sense for me to have a single connection between the HDTV and the receiver. I do know that with videogames I am definitely getting 5.1 surround of some sort. I do have the receiver set for Dolby Pro Logic on the input I am using.

I might consider using an optical connection for the PS3 if I notice audio issues with Blu Ray. I need to sit down with it and see exactly what it is doing with the audio.

That is (unfortunately) not possible, since the spec limits optical in bandwith. So it's either 2.0 PCM or DD or DTS 5.1 for optical.
