Hey Pro-B!

Just curious, do you know if the French and the UK release are the same transfer? I see the French release is put out by EuropaCorp, and the UK release by Starz. Are you aware of any differences, or do you have a preference as to which release is better? Thanks as always!

I don't know

The UK release is out at the end of the month but I don't have a screener yet. So I have to see it first to give you a good answer.

Fair enough!

I kind of thought this might be the situation but was hoping you possibly had an early screener of both copies. I can't decide which one to pre-order!

Thanks for the info!

My tuppence. Haven't seen both releases but I'd be genuinely surprised if the French release looked significantly better. btw Anchor Bay's DTS-HD master audio s'track is AMAZINGLY good...no bs, fabulous sound.

^ That's odd. 2.35:1 trailers whereas AB's bd is definetly a 1.78:1 ratio. Very unfortunate indeed...

Edit:

^ I see that the French bd is in the correct ratio, I wonder why Anchor Bay chose to crop the image.

Balls!!

Just received the UK disc.

While the image is undoubtedly stunning, here's how much is cropped. F*** sake!

French release

UK release

*EDIT*
I don't know what the hell's going on here. I've put a link to another shot from the French disc.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...515&position=4

On the UK disc, there is more information on all sides. This is assuming that the screenshot was taken from the
very beginning of the scene. If I move the scene on a little and try to match the edges of the frame,
there's still more image at the top and bottom, compared to the French release.

Is this release some wacky mixture of cropping, open-matte?

I got the Canadian Blu-Ray of I'mmortel!

The good news; it looks great and is in it's proper ratio of 2.35:1. Also, it's region-free.

The only downside (for me), is that the english subtitles are in yellow. I hate that. Can someone tell me if the french BD has english subtitles which are white or yellow?

Great! What audio options does it have? Do you have 5.1 lossless French audio? Do the subtitles lie within the image frame, or partially within the letterbox bars?

I purchased the French release, and have been extremely pleased with it. Fantastic film, looks wonderful.

Offhand, since it has been a few weeks+ since I watched it, I do not recall if the subtitles are in Yellow or White. I can check this weekend though, and get back to you.

Review is up for the badly aspect ratio'd UK version

Awaiting Canadian version review now (which will be shortly as noted ) I'm planning on getting that one later this week, so hopefully it's positive. Before I take the plunge (since importing is not cheap from Canada), anymore opinions on the film??
