One person's junk is another person's treasure. I actually think the stuff in the set is pretty cool and is worth the price. I can see why a lot of people would rather just have the movie though.

This is one title I was hoping would get a significant Black Friday price drop, because I'd actually be willing to purchase it if it got down around the $20 mark. Alas, it would seem that it's not likely to happen...

I wish if they were going to do an anniversary edition, thats fine, but they still need to have a regular version that doesn't include all that stuff....I only want the movie, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $35 for the movie and like someone else said "all that crap I'll never use"........I think the origial blu ray was only about $15?? Is it the same disk, if so, is there really $20 worth of extra stuff? For $20 more, I better get $40 out of it.....

I heard somebody say that they will be releasing the "movie-only" version in January. That's what I'm waiting for.

Right on! ME TOO! I'm sure at some point it will be, it can't be the 25th anniversary for more than a year.....right?

I'm debating just hanging on to my dvd. A good price drop would probably persuade me though.

I actually want this version with all the junk, but didn't feel like paying $34.99 for it. So, the easy solution for me was just to put it on my Christmas list and let someone else buy it.

Yep. Same as the UK release.

Unless they give the boxset a major price drop, me too.

I don't want the junk, but I'll 'deal with it' for the right price...

As of now, just the region-free UK release (which is the exact same transfer as the U.S. release, and can be imported at less than half the price).

There will be one in the U.S. eventually, but it could be months away.

They did a 25th anniversary box set for this, but not The NeverEnding Story? No wonder I am not pleased with Warner's treatment of movies on blu

I have the UK version but notice the commentary isn't the video commentary. I didn't watch the whole thing but wanted to see if it was different.

I paid $16.99 all together for it a month before the US one came out. Case is thicker though.

Got a chance to take a look at this set...Very solid release by Warner. Both the audio and video are quite good, and I'm glad Warner stuck with the U.K. transfer. In a lot of ways, the video quality, at least in terms of upgrade from the DVD, seems on par with that of "Gremlins" (which I personally thought was also a good transfer, never quite having understood some of the widespread disappointment about it). While neither release shows significant improvement in comparison to their DVD counterparts, there's improvement nonetheless, and both retain an accurate and filmlike presentation in my opinion, neither being the culprit of the excessive digital manipulation that has so often crept in, and hindered, the presentation of several recent Blu-ray catalogue titles.

And while I didn't necessarily care for the oversized packaging, I will admit that there is some fun and interesting information included in the insert booklets, featuring a cast & crew update, as well as extensive production notes regarding the making of the film. However, I still would've liked to have seen an extensive documentary on the making of this classic 80's film, but considering what's included here already, I really can't complain.
