76:24 gives us a 3:1 margin for the week. Id if the numbers hold out to be true that those where excellent figures. Of course the dud'ster will say if you was really winning it be 4:1

I told some one this the other night when comparing figures. If you was watching a basketball game and the score was 68-32 would you consider that a close game? When they laughed I said well those are the figures for Blu-Ray to HD DVD

Award for hypocrite of the week goes to...David Vaughan!!

For the people who want to challenge me on other boards, but not here, please read carefully.

The VS numbers for all of the big titles don't equal what the studio's say. THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY DIDN'T SELL THAT MANY....IT MEANS THAT THEY ARE USING DIFFERENT DATA! VS numbers don't count all sales...It is a statistical benchmark that uses the same data from week to week (apples to apples comparison) and is not "actual sales" in numbers, only a significant percentage of sales (50% or so). Take off your "fanboy" hats and look at the numbers for what they are, a benchmark.
What a douchebag.

P/DW were using numbers from Nevernever Land when they stated 190,000 - that much only an idiot would argue against.

What's funny is Winn (the person who runs the guess thread) actually called him out on that Paramount comment. He said Paramount has been known to padd their numbers and come up with totals that baffels everyone. basically he said that you can't always trust what all studios say. He complimented Sony for being honest about their 130k number although he thought the honesty has more to do with the contraversy Paramount started two week earlier with their 190k number.

Sony's numbers for SM3 were always going to be off, similar to HP will be I'm sure. Not only was it being released as a single, but it was getting released in a box set with two flicks you couldn't get otherwise AND it was a pack-in with the PS3. HP is going to be in a similar boat because it's spread so wide - realistically, across twelve products as you have five singles on each side and a box set on each side. The charts are entirely in play because of this. It's not one or two titles that will dominate. And as we've seen on both charts, residuals do make a difference. The BD side tends to have longer legs and the HD DVD side manages to keep bringing in box sets ala Planet Earth and Heroes via promotions.

Just call it what it is........give aways (much like Open Season jumping to the top of the charts for BR).

Seems fairly reasonable, especially with Planet Earth still doing very well.

People always harp on how Blu needs to improve the ratio, but it is HARD to make the ratio higher. It is not a linear function so each percentage is much harder than the prior percentage.
Yup and they are doing this ratio despite losing Paramount.

[QUOTE=HeavyHitter;412298]Yup and they are doing this ratio despite losing Paramount.[/QUOT

look what this moron wrote in another forum :

They will continue to support BR for it's gaming side until if and when the PS3 dies. I believe the PS3 will always be in 3rd place as a game system and Sony will support BR until their next system is released. At that time they will switch to HD-DVD as their media of choice because that will be the standard at the time. But it will also play BR media to be backward compatible.

omg i had the itch to just slap him idiot.

Sounds good. But I wouldn't have any guilt if I actually got Bourne on BD. I would know in my heart I had done the right thing.

Insulting a member is not appropriate. And I think you need to provide a link if you want to claim hypocrisy.

It may be different people using the same handle.

If it is indeed a 3:1 ratio, that rdjam whatever his name is, got nailed again.

He was phrophesising to his HD-DVD disciples that no way in hell Blue Ray would ever get a 3:1 ratio again after October '07.

rdjam credibility is in the triple negative digits at the moment, will further slip if it is indeed 3:1.

Was it rdjam or plazman who insisted months ago that the first release on tl51 GB HD-DVD was imminent?

The Paramount TF claim has been discussed many times even in this thread. The reason why 190k is questioned is because we have Warner's 300 claim, along with the First Alert that was conveniently leaked by Nikki Finke.

The main technical reason why the 190k number would raise eyebrows is because 190k/FA_TF = 2.11, while 250k/FA_300 = 1.55

If someone says that 55% of the samples is missing for him and another person did the same exercise and said that 111% of the samples is missing using the same methods, something's amiss.

You really have to wonder why there is such a disparity in the numbers. Notice that NOONE questioned Warner's 300 numbers, and when you think about it, a factor 1.55 is plausible to account for missing data.

Plus, there is that fiasco with the Shrek II DVD disks earlier where certain public statements of SOLD-DISKS were made, that did not pan out, and had shareholders suing for stock market losses when the retailers tried to return unsold disks. That was paramount.

So between the statistics and the track record, both of these put together : that's really why people are skeptical, it has nothing to do with fanboyism.

It is true though, that after Paramount was called out, Sony and Fox had to be very careful and circumspect with Spidey3 and DH4 numbers, just like Disney has to be careful with 160k. [In this case, HDM would not have a material effect on the balance sheet, overreporting HDM sales by 50% makes no difference. If you overreport DVD sales by 50%, you'll probably be sued if your stock goes down].

My guess would be rdjam but I remember Lee was the most vocal about the DVD forums approval and defending "it can play on all players" which is still in limbo.
