1. You dont pay attention that well to my reviews nor time line of movies that i've watched. My first Kubrick film was 2001 and i disliked it. Then i got around to ACWO, Paths of Glory, The Shinning, and Full Metal Jacket. Out of all the movies i've seen he's the only director that has constantly blown my mind with his originality.

2. I NEVER said Cameron was my favorite EVER! Please find a post with me saying that and ill leave this thread. I might of mentioned his box office success as a director but thats it bud!!

Dont become a critic. You will have limited followers and i mean LIMITED!!
Cameron's my favourite director of all-time, with movies like The Dark Knight, the Prestige and Inception, Nolan's catching up though. It was once Lucas but he hasn't really done anything in 5 years so now he's a distant 3rd. Jackson would be in the conversation if I liked him for more than just 4 movies and really LoTR is one long movie.

Is it going to be the best film I've ever seen? I guarantee it won't. But I absolutely will not hold it against the film that people went bonkers over it and proclaimed it the greatest movie ever. I saw The Dark Knight after the hype and gave it 3 stars (out of 4) (note: the editing was very poor, the directing was mediocre, and the themes were embarassingly cliche. But I enjoyed the film). I saw Avatar after the hype in 3-D and I believe I gave the experience 4 stars (out of 4), but gave the film 3 or 3 1/2 stars (out of 4).

So, in other words, while I think it's completely fair to criticize these fanboys that proclaim every major movie is the best thing ever, I don't think it's fair to hold it against the film when viewing it.

Well put and i cant argue those points. Im surprised that you saw these 2 films.

I like your rating for Avatar 4/4 for the experience. Thats why i liked it so much.

Next greatest rental: “Bad Boys II.” Which is weird, since I haven’t seen the first one yet…

First and foremost, this film is gorgeous! The action scenes are freakin’ huge! The ‘splosions are freakin’ everywhere! Cars are flying all over the place! Bullets crawling through the air and spraying blood and stuff! My God, on a visual level, this could be one of the coolest looking films ever!

As for the story…yeah, it’s okay. Didn’t really connect with my fully (much less the characters) and it felt really long, but it is loaded with scenes that are funny, dramatic, and just plain awesome. The comedy didn’t really make me laugh that much, but otherwise it’s a pretty fun ride.

Like any Michael Bay film, this movie is a mixed bag of good and bad photography. All of it looks great, especially with all the sunbathed locales and a super-sleek production value. Action scenes do get a little jittery; frankly though I think I’ve seen way worse (I think “The Island” is more hectic than this). Acting is fine and dandy (maybe a little over-the-top for some characters), and the writing seems okay. Music is really cool.

4/5 (entertainment: 4.5/5, story: 3/5, film: 4/5)

Just might have to nab the Blu-Ray for this (and blind-buy the first one, why not?)!

Wait until it comes out on blu-ray, it should put its predecessor to shame, especially the highway chase scene and the
[Show spoiler]raid on that drug czar's house to get Gabrielle Union back

Dang, for some reason I thought both were out.

Yep, will get it for sure when it does. Those scenes you mentioned were awesome indeed (and it's about time somebody made a car chase scene with a flippin' car carrier involved)!

Countdown to Zero

2009 PG 91 minutes

Netflix Synopsis:

Since the first atomic bomb exploded in 1945, scientists and world leaders have grappled with the apocalyptic dangers and paradoxes posed by nuclear weapons. Lucy Walker's documentary presents an unblinking look at humanity's lethal predicament. The film outlines current threats posed by a growing list of nuclear-armed states and weighs the prospects for global disarmament, soliciting insights from a gallery of world leaders and policy experts.

This a really well researched, constructed, narated and filmed documentary. It's basic message is that we are possibly at more risk NOW of a nuclear bomb detonation than we were decades ago during the Cold War.

Nuclear bomb technology in the 1940s was "new" and "super high tech" and kept very secret. It was only possessed by those who could "invent" it. But as the years have chugged along technology has advanced, making nuke building somewhat low tech and "easy". Plus, a number of defecting scientists have gone rogue over the years and sold the "recipes" to anyone willing to pay for them, including North Korea and al qaeda. Everything about building a nuclear bomb today is "easy" except obtaining Highly Enriched Uranium or Plutonium. The film gives many examples of how the worlds HEU supplies are not well enough controlled and protected. It also explains how easy it is to smuggle HEU from one location to another.

A number of current and former politicians, government agents and military personel are interviewed, and its quite fascinating.

Scary stuff and really interesting.

Nuclear bombs DONT have to hit their target. Close is good enough.

Film 4.5/5
PQ 4.25/5
AQ 4.25/5

Wow you are VERY hard to please, honestly wonder how any movie could make you happy. Is TDK one of the best movies ever? Probably not but it's not a bad movie either. It did what it set out to do and that was tell a good Batman story, it even got Heath Ledger acclaim for the best performance I've ever seen as the Joker character.

I just watched the trailer, and WOW, that looks incredibly interesting!

I'm going to have to check that out someday.

I'm a big History Channel/National Geographic/Science Channel/Discovery Channel nerd for shows that they play like that and on space and other things.
