Yea, I finally watched that on HBO a few months ago, and while I thought that it was a really well made film, I just have no interest in watching it again, and like you mentioned, in a few years I will barely even remember that movie. Plus, those last two major plot points in its last twenty minutes, I saw coming from a mile away( [Show spoiler] ) And they complained that AVATAR was predictable! ![]() Quote:
And as I was watching this tonight, I was thinking that it was a shame that it was not released last year so it would have won the Best Picture and Director awards, though that still probably would not have happened due to the Academy wanting to get woman to win those awards for the very first time anyway. ![]() . I agree 100% with this as well. While somewhat intriguing, I did not fall in love with Up in the Air whatsoever. |

Watched it on blu-ray tonight finally! Amazing as always.
I just can't find the Inception audio problems thread though as I had some problems also especially during the snow mountain parts... Last edited by masoud90; 12-11-2010 at 05:58 AM. |

I guess im the only one but I've watched Up In The Air 5 times since I bought it in March. I agree with the rest of your statement except that part. |

The movie has grown on me. The first time I watched it, it seemed a standard-issue heist movie with the dream stuff woven in as a clever backdrop. But after a couple viewings, I'm pretty jazzed about it.
There are still things to pick at, of course...like [Show spoiler] And, [Show spoiler] Still, congrats to DiCaprio. This and Shutter Island are both solid thrillers. |

I agree, but I don't think Inception is that movie. It's a great movie, but it's not a masterpiece. Dark Knight was far closer. Inception is just lacking in some key "masterpiece" parts. I think it appealed to the masses that little too much that it never really had it's "edge".

Last three Best Picture winners: The Hurt Locker, Milk, and No Country for Old Men put together do not amount to one "Inception" IMO . There's always an anti populist sentiment by the Hollywood elitist and critics alike...basically if a movie is a box office success then it should not be selected as the "Best Picture". Yes, I am aware that Gladiator and Braveheart where nominated and won despite having great box office success. Last year there was a lot of talk about Up in the Air, who even remembers or watches that movie anymore? Lets see what happens in the 2011 Oscar selections, but I am hoping for an "original" conclusion to the awards ceremony . Here's what should happen in 2011: Best Original Story "Inception", Best Director Nolan, Best Picture "Inception". |

Count me in as one of the people who never saw it in theatres, and ended up blind-buying the movie. All I have to say is...wow! It was a pretty damn good movie, that never had a dull moment, with a great story and great acting to boot. I was especially impressed with the basic cinema style of Christopher Nolan...sticking with film instead of digital video, using camera techniques and models, with CGI only to expand certain things rather than completely take over the film, like a lot of movies seem to do these days. I also respect that Nolan did not go the 3D route with the movie...3D is not a necessity, and yes, it's entirely possible to have a creative and original movie without 3D...too bad Hollywood doesn't seem to get that. I can't think of many movies that absolutely must be seen from the last 5 years, but this is easily one of them. I'm proud to have bought it, and it'll proudly stand in my collection.

I've only had a chance to sample a few scenes since I picked it up on Tuesday, but it looks and sounds terrific. Man, that soundtrack's got some heavy bass.
I love the inclusion of the score in lossless audio as an extra feature. I hope more studios start doing this. Or least offer an isolated score in lossless. BTW, my copy is the FYE steelbook. I had the WBShop briefcase, but I sold it since I'm kind of a stickler for wanting cases that fit on my shelf. Plus I couldn't believe the prices people were paying for this thing. |
