Default The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya

Quote:
Enterbrain's Weekly Famitsu magazine is revealing on Thursday that Bandai Namco Games will ship the Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisō (The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya) "wandering adventure" game on the Sony PSP and PlayStation 3 consoles next year. The anime production committee behind The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film is supervising the original story for this game.

The game's story begins immediately after the ending of the film. The player assumes the role of the original light novels' Kyon as he finds himself at the Kita High School Festival again in a world where the SOS Brigade does not exist.

The anime cast members will reprise their respective roles in this story set in the parallel world of the Disappearance film. The PSP and PlayStation 3 versions can exchange saved data; as the result, players can play on the PlayStation 3 in full 1920x1080 high resolution, save the game data, and pick up where they left off on the PSP.

Also look forward to a Haruhi-chan Suzumiya Mahjong PSP game coming out in February based off the Youtube Haruhi series, as well as another Lucky Star PSP game coming out just a couple of days before Christmas which is a port of a PS2 game.

I only know this series from the manga, of which that reminds me, the latest volume is out in a few days

Wonder how this game will play.

I was wondering when you were going to make this thread, but yea I can't wait to see more of this game, since I already read the light novel that was based on the movie, so I have been wondering what happens next.

Though out of all the Haruhi games released, I still want to play Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi, sadly its only for PS2 and I don't own a Japanese PS2 to play it.

Limited Edition Confirmed For Both PS3 and PSP Owners and Also Confirmed It Will Be Available March 24th.

Quote:
Namco Bandai set March 24 as the release date for the PSP/PS3 game The Reminiscence Of Haruhi Suzumiya. Wait, PlayStation 3 and PSP? Yes, aside from sharper graphics and more voice acting lines on PS3, its the same game. Its possible to swap save data between devices so you can start The Reminiscence Of Haruhi Suzumiya on the train and continue your game at home.

Since this is a Haruhi game you know there has to be a limited edition. The Reminiscence Of Haruhi Suzumiya Yuki Nagatos Lost Property Box includes a movie with CG contents (PSP owners get a separate UMD video), a binder with three clear posters, a handful of 3D posters with red and blue glasses, plus the game for PS3 or PSP wrapped in a special box.

The limited edition costs 11,529 yen for PlayStation 3 ($140) or 10,479 yen ($127) for PSP. A standalone game retails for 7,329 yen ($89) on PS3, 6,279 yen if you get the PSP version ($76).

Not the most exciting limited edition especially for a Haruhi Suzumiya game but you know it had to be done.

Looks cool and interesting, I'll keep my eyes out on this one. Have they mentioned what gameplay is like, or if it's similar to Persona play-wise? Also, why is the basic standalone game selling for $90?

I'm not sure about this game, but Catherine is being developed by the Persona/SMT team.

Well my 1st post mentions an adventure type game so perhaps a visual novel game? As for the price, well games in Japan cost so much more than America especially these days. Americans don't know how lucky they are to be able to buy a PS3 game for $60 or a PSP game with at most $40 unless it's a limited edition. But we know Namco will never localize any Haruhi game unless some miracle happens which I doubt so have to import.

I import games, music, and other items I want a lot and it can be a very expensive habit especially with shipping costs. Plus my job sucks these days unlike when I 1st started working there since my hours have been like cut to hell.

Haruhi (Disappearance Ver.) looks rather cute in these shots. Same with Nagato.

That's some pretty good artwork. A couple of those pics kind of remind me of the Toradora Portable game i'm currently playing.

Looks really really great brought to 3d (graphics). Wonder if it'll ever appear on US shores.

Doubt it. It's Namco Bandai, and we never got a previous Haruhi Suzumiya game before. Sure the series is somewhat popular in America, but probably not enough to satisfy Namco. Though this is a game that does take place after the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie, so I suppose it's not 100% impossible, but just chances are very slim.

Well with the delay from March to May, here's a new trailer to look at before the game is finally released. One part in the trailer reminds me of Toradora Portable

I have sadly not acquired any anime-style games due to the underwhelming presence of said games in the NA market. I would've missed the fact that there was a Haruhi game at all if this thread hadn't gotten the bump Moonphase

I was big on the anime back in my younger days, and speaking about the fansub VHS days before the big market it had grown to. It was because of this big growth that I slowly fell out of favor with the market, when I could see that anime was being produced a dime a dozen without much regard for the intelligence of the anime fan. Sure, Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli was still there, along with powerhouses like Gainax and whatnot but I personally felt that the anime market had become oversaturated and stagnant.

I only started getting back into the anime scene, tho' I'm very picky about which series I embark upon watching. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was one of the few that I tripped upon, and I have to say I enjoyed it immensely.

Seeing that Reminiscence is coming out next month, I may take a chance on this and Catherine when that title comes out as I've heard a lot of good things about it. So, color me stupid for my ignorance but what other titles do I need to follow up with after Melancholy to at least know my place in the Reminiscence game? I saw that the game is supposed to take place after the movie, of which I have no clue about. So could you enlighten this out-of-date anime vet on what I need to catch up on?

Not really quite sure what you mean by knowing your place, but while this game does take place after the movie, it's done in an alternative reality where the SOS Brigade doesn't exist. Plus that movie, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie isn't even out yet in America unless you count the light novel version.

Sorry, getting late and all that

What I meant to say was what other Haruhi anime titles would I need to familiarize myself with so going into the game I'd have some background as to why I am where I am in the game. Having only seen Melancholy, I'm not overly familiar with the Haruhi storyline and what other anime had come out since Melancholy. I'm sure I can find Disappearance through the various anime fansub channels still bookmarked, but what of any other titles? Hope that makes sense.

EDIT: Never mind! I found the information and updated myself accordingly. But thanks for the movie info Moonphase!
