I am not a fan of the "DUD" term either. We are better then that. All we need is the facts to win this.

I disagree...

and while I don't think we should be complacent at all....you keep focusing on what we should be worried about rather what we can do to keep that edge...

which is buy Blu...

if it bothers you so much that being childish bothers me, why come in here and continue the arguement.

its childish. i'm sorry i'm not some 13 year old fanboy. and forgive me if i'm a little more neutral than you'd all like me to be. the great thing about the internet..everyone has an opinion. don't like mine? boohoo

Freedom of speech....

I thought you Americans put this above all?

I don't use the term DUD, but if others do, it doesn't bother me.

So are you saying HD-duds are normal people like us who don't misinform others to win?

I find this thread pretty funny.

You know, who cares, people can call HD-DVD whatever they want on this site, DUD, Red, HD-VD, HD-DUD, Boiler Disc, whatever. You are on Blu-ray.com, it's a site for fans of BLU-RAY, so get used to it.

I see where this is going.

xtop is a spy sent from the hd-DUDs side to infiltrate us.
Only problem is, this spy gave themself up.

That's the great thing about the internet, isn't it? Everyone has an opinion.

Here's a different way to look at the whole "DUD" issue: This was OK (sort of) when this little format war was in full swing. It was good for morale on this site, and as the site is clearly biased towards blu-ray, you were probably pretty safe to think that you weren't going to offend anyone with that little jab.

But oh, how the times, they are a changin'. Blu-ray is beginning to come to the forefront of the Hi-def media of choice for consumers, retailers, and tech-savy and dependent companies. That said, there are those that were once clear supporters of HD DVD that have read the unbiased reports, done some research on their own, and bought into the Blu-ray media. Having done that, they of course are going to come here looking for answers to their questions regarding the format and its future.

It is for this reason that the insults of HD DVD early adopters, as a whole, should stop. I've stated this in the past, and I still believe it. Heck, I used to use the DUD term all the time, but decided one day that it was time to stop, due to all the "purple people" joining the site. Feel free to still call out individuals for what they are, especially when they're spreading FUD, but let's remember that with each passing day, we have more and more former "red" members becoming "purple", and with the right attitude and support, perhaps even one day becoming true-Blu.

This is my personal opinion, take it for what it's worth. But no one likes to be reminded of mistakes or poor decisions. Hey, we all bet on the losing horse at some time, do YOU want to be constantly chastised and insulted for it?

that's fine and all...but why make such a big deal about something so microscopic?...

I've voiced my displeasure with the hd-dud term in a thread before because I thought we should start embracing the HD-DVD fans because we will be the long term option for watching movies...

however...starting a whole thread in the manner that you did is not what we need to see right now...

this is such a sensitive time where there are a lot of people researching this stuff and they'll come here and see threads like this...

Yeah, seeing HD DUD in every thread gets pretty annoying. At first, it was a little funny, now, it's just annoying to read. I completely understand the fanboyism (considering this site is all for blu, which I am too), but at least try not to use the term in every post that has to do with HD DVD.

well it sure got everyone in a tizzy didn't it. i dont mean to come off like a troll myself, but everything is so close minded. its an annoying term that i think is childish. you might be right that starting the thread was stupid, but whatever. whats done is done
