I don't see a problem if there are films that people don't think should be a part of the collection. The Criterion Collection is not perfect. I don't see why there are people who feel the need to like every movie just because it's part of the Criterion Collection. Being in the Criterion Collection doesn't make a movie great, it's great movies that make the Criterion Collection great.

Basically movies you just don't plain like.
I can't be alone in thinking that By Brakhage benefits the least from a BD treatment. Not to mention that the film can only be "enjoyed" in short spurts while no one else is home.

I like Brakhage, but I think you're right on both points.

I can see that. But I look at it this way. It's not a great film, but it's certainly an interesting piece of the puzzle of BBS. It's worth watching as part of a film history education.

It wasn't the "graphic nature" of Antichrist, because believe me I've seen much more graphic films, but there was something about it that just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it was how ugly both the actors were together (they were one fugly couple). I'm joking to a certain extent of course, but I'm a fan of Defoe nonetheless.

I honestly don't know what it was about the film. I can't quite put my finger on it. The toll that grief takes on the soul certainly ranges according to a persons mental struggle, and I think what bothered me so much is that it made me associate that sense grief to my personal relationship to my

doesn't handle grief and mourning the same way I do, and I think the film really frightened me. I know, it's really personal and I'm not sure if it's best for me to share that, but that's what I took away from the film. The grief really scared me.

The Wii is awesome. Screw what others think. There are many games I want to buy for it but I haven't finished all the others that I have yet.

I am quite tickled that since Criterion usually has wonderful essays on each of their films in the enclosed booklets and on the webpage that they needed to have an attempt at a serious film discussion of these two.

The Rock actually has a fairly honest appraisal of the film from Ebert, but Armageddon...

God bless 'em, they did their best to justify Armageddon as a worthy film.

Despite what you may have heard, Armageddon is a work of art by a cutting-edge artist who is a master of movement, light, color, and shape

Anyway, we're getting off-topic here. Can't wait for the new releases. Here's hoping for City Lights.

To me, if a movie can create these feelings it's an effective movie. I'm always a fan of a challenging film.

I could imagine the possibilities, a boxing match, street sweeping with the controller. I think it's a perfect fit.

Effective? Yes!
A film I like, want to see again? No.
