I just love how they slap "HD-DVD ADVANTAGE" in bold letters right below the weekly numbers chart showing Blu-ray's continuing dominance.

With 160,000 for Pirates you get:

1) Pirates 160,000
2) Superbad 59,936

3) Planet Earth 19,808
4) Spiderman 3 16,816
5) Transformers 11.984
6) Live Free or Die Hard 11,840
7) Planet Earth 10,832
8) Pirates: Dead Man's Chest 10,720
9) Ratatouille 10,704
10) 300 8,576
Didn't we kinda figure that the 160,000 was total Pirates sales from Nielsen and non-Nielsen sources? (Still, it's an approximate indicator to figure out how many the other titles sold everywhere.)

Thanks for doing that for us. (It's been far too long since I 'did the math'.)

"If those numbers included Wallmart it would be 50-50."

"Software sales don't matter, its all about standalone sales."

"Blah blah blah attach rates blah blah."

Why should they come up with new excuses when they have the classics?

I just wish that Dave Vaughn would stop leaking the numbers early. I used to look forward to the numbers on Friday but now, meh.

Anyways, awesome week for Blu!!

So early I didn't get this up..

Dec. 4 Titles In Play
20 Million Miles to Earth (Sony)
Cast Away (Fox)
Elton 60 - Live at Madison Square Garden (Universal Music)
Masters of Horror: Season One - Vol. Four (Starz)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Fox)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (Buena Vista)
Queen Rock Montreal & Live Aid (Eagle Rock)
Superbad (Sony)

Arctic Tale (Paramount)
Battlestar Galactica: Season One (Universal)
Queen Rock Montreal & Live Aid (Eagle Rock)

The spin is all about Blu BOGO now. Funny, but before the 50M Paramounted Transformers failed to deliver you never heard a damn thing about BOGOs. In fact you constantly heard the tired old HD DVD talking point about cheaper SW.

You know, I believe that Blu-ray now has its own momentum built up--like a steamroller--what with all the new standalone and PS3 sales. Even when a lot of us didn't anticipate that the third Pirates would do this well, it did tremendously well. Makes me think that anyone who worried about how The Simpsons Movie will do had better revise their estimates upwards.

Awesome numbers for last week. I am surprised the Year to Date didn't jump a point...it must be on the verge...

Now this week/weekend is the most important one of the years...I think we need to come out bigger than ever on Warner titles/HP and match or pass last weeks numbers with between a 76:24 to 80:20. It is not too late, and not impossible for us to do...we have the numbers, the purchasing power, Warner titles to buy (even as gifts if necessary), but lets make this next one the one to remember!!! Go Blu GO!
