F&L has Lizards in suits. Don't really care that much which one it is though, so go about you opinions.

it just seems like out of all their collection and new films that could be added, releasing two films starring the same actor or directed by the same individual in the same month just kind of feels like overkill... or a bit of smothering.

i guess i would just like to see more variety and spread them out over a few months and not drop them both at the same time to keep things more interesting.
Whether they release them in the same month or not doesn't really matter at all to me. I'm not sure I'm sold on Wall Street as being "criterion worthy" yet. But then again I'm not sure what "criterion worthy" even means. Point is, I hate Oliver Stone with a passion, and think that 90% of his films are trash! I'd rather them release a film with Michael Douglas and a film with Kirk Douglas in the same month, like The Game and Ace in the Hole. Do a little father son combo?

Yea I forgot about that. I don't know. I'd rather see F&L over Wall Street anyway, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Spirit of the Beehive? That would be amazing. What was the comment about this from Pro-B? I missed it.

He was just saying after the announcements that he had hoped for it. That's all. But it just started making me think, "Oh wow! That's a great one!"

Speaking of "Releasing the same director", it's F&L. (As in, Everything Gilliam, and the DVD version they released already.)

David Fincher only releases his stuff to Criterion personally, and if he'd directed F&L or Wall Street, they would be much different movies.

For those who missed the B&N 50% sale, Amazon has "Night of the Hunter" for $24.99. I got 2. I have a feeling it will go the OOP route. Great price on "The Thin Red Line" as well. Going to be a great movie Saturday.

Blow Out for April is seeming more and more likely. Awesome.

I hate to be "that guy", but I am really surprised they picked up Blow Out. It doesn't really have much going for it other than a great idea that is somewhat poorly executed, and a brilliant early Lithgow performance (if they're going to release this, I'd almost wish for Raising Cain as well). Nancy Allen, in particular, annoys me to no end in this film. Also, it's hardly a commercial darling, and tends to be (rightly) overshadowed by Dressed to Kill.

Now, having said all this, I do enjoy the film, and I hope that if it does come out, it is followed by the film it owes everything to: Blow-up.

Perfectly fine reasoning for not favoring the film as much as others. Criterion does have the surprises. As mentioned countless times before, they released Armageddon on their label, soooo.

No need to feel like that guy; sometimes you just need to call a spade a spade. Blow-out is a crappy Blow-Up rehash, and Nancy Allen sucks in, well, everything. Ohh cmon people, it's true.
