Seriously, have we been playing this game since Sept? Was that the first leaked rumor? Regardless it's getting old. Warner needs Blu-ray (for the sited reasons) Blu-ray doesn't need warner. They would like warner, but if they're going to play this teenager drama queen game then good riddance and we'll have a dual format quagmire because of them.

Either way, Thanks Warner, hurry up before we could care less.

Wrong. Blu-Ray needs to whatever it takes to wrap this stupid format war up as soon as possible. Getting Warner over to all Blu is the most expedient way of getting this accomplished.

I agree Blu needs Warner. If we don't have it, then the HDM industry will fail in the marketplace. Blu loses.

HDDVD loses either way, but I'd rather have HDDVD than no HDM at all.

On the flip side, HD DVD needs to keep Warner to survive. And Microsoft needs the war to stagnate the physical market and allow their download goals the time to catch on.

You'll note Amir is now using the limitted life argument against Blu-ray. HD DVD is cheaper to deal with for the limitted remaining life of physical media.

But, of course, it's based on a premise many consider nonsense. There is no indication right now that consumers are interested in downloads replacing the physical.

I highly disagree that Blu-ray doesn't need Warner, and if you believe that then I think you should take off your Blu glasses. Let them go red and find out how much Blu need thems, neutral at very least.

I admit it would suck but we would have a quagmire with no end in site and would all be forced into supported dual format. Blu-ray would not be over. However the opposite is not true. It would ROYALLY suck, but if these huge movie corps screw themselves it's not my fault all it will do is screw them AND the consumers. It will slow Hi Def adoption AND increase piracy.

Warner, just like every motion picture company needs it's anti-piracy features, region coding, additional space, etc. Blu-ray will exist without them, it will just suck for consumers.

That is another argument, they seem to be doing fine so far without them.

BD needs Warner more than vice versa and that's just the truth.

HD DVD is in the same boat. Warner is the keystone to the whole bloody thing.

You can't guarantee Blu would go on without Warner..if they go Red then you take the chance that others defect as well.

Blu-ray as a storage medium (PS3) would go on. Blu-ray as a movie format would most likely go on as long as HD DVD, but most likely wouldn't go any further.

Without Warner on Blu-ray, the studios would be about evenly matched.

It all comes down to whether Warner does or does not see the bigger picture. Whether they want to make quick bucks by continuing to sell on both formats or go Blu exclusive and bring this war to a quick end thus allowing Bluray to take off seriously against DVD. Going Red exclusive would be very stupid as it would completely divide the market. And yet that is exactly what Paramount did.
So I don't know, all we can do is wait and see

That is rather arrogant to think that blu does not need them. They need all not a selected assortment. Can someone please help me out here. I see people post comments like these are not must buy movies and if I don't like what happens I'll take them back which leaves me confused. I understand that this a blu site but where is the love of movies? To me the thought of buying a movie just because it is on blu is ridiculous. I have to really like a movie for me to buy it. I really see this a plain waste of money that could go to a needy cause instead. I love movies plain and simple. Maybe I am to old to understand the greed of having stuff just say that I have it.

I agree with you. While I would like to buy any Blu-ray to support the cause, I also have a budget. Maybe some people have tons of money to waste or are in deep debt. If people can afford to spend that kind of money, hats off to them. I personally like buying movies that I really enjoy watching.

I believe there is a good chance that one reason somebody started a fake rumor about Warner going to Blu-ray was so that if they did at least start the process of moving to Blu-ray later and word got leaked, some would see it as the same thing or similar enough to get dismiss it. Penton-Man downplayed the last rumor, but not this one. I think that other rumor gives this one more credibility because he downplayed it and showed he wouldn't just play up a Warner rumor because he wanted it to happen.

And BTW. Blu-ray needs Warner and New Line (I think they go together). Having Lord of the Rings come out on HD DVD exclusively would hurt Blu-ray a lot, much like I hope it gets released for Blu-ray exclusively and helps end this war.

One thing to note, excluding Penton-Man from the equation (no offense Penton-Man ), is that this whole "We may pick ONE format" actually was started by none other than Ron Sanders himself around CEDIA. It was mentioned AGAIN by Dan Silverberg at the BD festival. The only person denying anything is the official WB spokesman, Jim Noonan.

Keep in mind also that another of the Insiders on this forum recently stated that Ron Sanders is the only reason WB is still releasing on HD DVD...

What it all means...I don't know. But it certainly means something, especially if we add Penton's recent correction of me to being 100% sure that WB will be releasing on BD in 2008.

All I can say is that I'm done ordering Warner titles. I have close to 30 of them now, have all the Potters, pre-ordered Pans Laby, have some pre-orders for January, and that's as far as I'll go for now. All the remaining Warner titles I'm not too interested in, or I'll wait until they re-release them and give them the better audio and video they deserve (not the same as the HD DVD version). If Batman, V for Vendetta and Matrix mysteriously appear before February, I'll snap those up as well (highly doubt that scenario, but one never knows). But really, Warner either needs to doo-doo or get off the pot. You can only drag this game on for so long before people finally get tired of it. Make a decision one way or the other and let's move on with one format please.
