I think this movie is fairly critic proof - hopes the story isn't as terrible as everyone is saying.

I think an entire generation of young stoners/ravers unfamiliar with the original film are going to fall in love with this film.

It's not technically a terrible story. It's just that it feels incomplete. Yet, if you think hard enough, you can make some assumptions about the logic of the film that would be correct.

Honestly, I've been going back and forth all day since last night about the film. On the one had, I completely agree with the critics of the film and how, from a story perspective, it's severely lacking. Yet, on the other hand, when I sit back and think about a few things, there is "some" logic to what the film is doing.

It feels like a prequel to a larger, greater story we haven't yet seen...and it's somewhat frustrating.

But damn it, I can't stop thinking about the thing either.

The biggest bummer in the film is how this film doesn't even tackle the idea of our cyberspace world we live in today in connection with "The Grid"...yet there is an explanation as to why that is. It's not stated in the film but if think a bit, you'll figure it out.

It feels like a missed opportunity to not even remotely address how connected we've become as a global society. But, it's not like the film doesn't give a logical reason as to why "The Grid" is this way in Legacy.

Again, frustrating but not really...

It is a sequel that takes place in present time about 27 years from the first film and will continue the story of the original TRON world.

Question to those who've seen it. Is the 3-D worth the extra $3? From what I've seen so far it looks like the answer is yes.

Since I'm hearing that Daft Punk's soundtrack is almost 50 % important to the film, does anyone think that Daft Punk will get Oscar nominated for Best Original Score?

I hope not.. John Murphy deserves this award for his work in Kick Ass

Well first of all, Daft Punk could get nominated AND John Murphy can win. I don't see why those two have to be separate. Secondly, weren't there like 4-5 composers on Kick-Ass? And a small chunk of John Murphy's stuff was from previous films. Plus, it's Kick-Ass, that's not really the Academy's cup of tea for any category.

That won't happen. Kick Ass had a compilation score which doesn't count as an "original" score.

Didn't see the original, saw Legacy last night at midnight and enjoyed it. I'm sure there are flaws, I didn't focus on it and kind of just accepted it for the visual blowjob that it was.

I'm going to hopefully see The Fighter this weekend but I had a certain mindset going into Tron compared to that. This one would probably be right at home in the summer.

it was mostly John Murphys ideas, but Henry Jackman, IIan Eshkeri, and Marius De Vries all had some piece to the score.. The only score that was used from previous movies was "strobe (adagio in D minor) but it has a different tones and sounds from the previous movies Sunshine and Last House On the Left.. he added new pieces to it. so it is original in its own way.. and if Toy Story could be nominated I dont see why Kick Ass cant be
