How do you figure it has already failed? It seems to only be growing to me. i only ask because it seems to me that most 3D haters only really seem to hate it becasue it is not a good fit for them. For those that do enjoy it, I don't see it going away any time soon.

I usually buy the 3d combo pack as I plan on getting a 3d tv around next spring.

It's only growing because the major LCD/LED/Plasma manufactures are putting the 3D feature in their newer displays. So yeah more 3D displays are being sold, but most are not being used for 3D. As long as glasses are involved the present home 3D model will never be more than a niche product. It also doesn't help that colors for 3D are still slightly saturated when compared to 2D. Furthermore, there's only about 30 titles to choose from that were either actually made in 3D rather than that God-awful 2D to 3D conversion junk. Another major problem is that three-quarters of the available 3D titles are animated.

I see your point. I just think that it is still in its infant stages at this point so that's the reason for the limited number of movies. Personally, I love animated movies so that part doesn't bother me at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that 3d is is in any way superior to 2d. I own a 3d TV and we still spend 90% of our movie watching time with 2d. I just think that it is a very neat feature to have when you are in the mood for a 3d movie, and I just don't see it being completely phased out any time soon.

Now the one thing that does bother me to no end is all of the studio exclusive deals. If anything does end up hurting the future growth of 3d, I believe it will be this.
