I did notice last night that when watching the news or something, the auto-on feature did cut in & out ocassionally, so I just flipped it to "on". Mine has a red light that turns green when on. I do have a Y splitter hooked to the L/R inputs, but on low level tv it would still cut out. It did not cut out on any Blu-rays I tested, but I was using some bass heavy stuff and I also had the receiver sub output level a lot hotter than I did with regular tv.

The BIC subwoofer is a good one and reasonably priced. You will be happy with it. The AA subs are comparable to the BIC subwoofer. They may have a slightly lower frequency extension. They are also cheaper, particularly if you buy them from their Ebay store. The links are given in post #1. |

The ED kit is a great deal. You probably meant the e23.12 kit for $180 and not $280. If you are into building subwoofers, go ahead and do it. I built one myself and I am very happy with it. https://forum.blu-ray.com/2469598-post621.html http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=906 Last edited by Big Daddy; 11-20-2010 at 02:13 PM. |

I just got an HD-SUB12 to go with my HPS-12HO sub & they sound great together. Right now I have my HT in my living room which is open to pretty much the entire house. I also have a room that is 13'L x 12'W x 8'H. Do any of you guys think I would get much benefit from using this smaller room?
Thanks! |

It is not only the size of the room that determines the quality of your audio. Room treatment has a lot to do with it. If everything sounds good to you, don't bother to change anything. Just enjoy your system. ![]() |

ok ive been spying on this thread for a bit, i finally broke down and bought the hd-sub12 and im having alittle trouble setting it up mainly cause im a newbie at this and probably just dont know what im doing...
1st what is the phase switch for?? 2nd im only using the one sub wire from my receiver to a Y connector to the sub, so my question is would i use the crossover dial for anything? 3rd LFE on my receiver, where do you start at to adjust? mainly i got it setup and works well but i just wanna know what to do to make it LOUDER. i was hoping this speaker would rattle the windows but its just not there yet ![]() |

To answer your second question, I would turn your crossover all of the way up on the subwoofer. Assuming your receiver has an adjustable crossover. Now where to set your crossover on the receiver is a little bit trickier without knowing more about your setup. Depending on what kind of front sound stage you have, your crossover should be somewhere between 80-120 hz. I have mine set at 90hz. To answer your third question, there should be some kind of manual speaker level setup on your receiver through the menu options. Shouldn't be too hard to find if you still have your owners manual. |

Hey,
I was looking for a cheap sub for use with my computer and solely for music. I have bookshelfs (infinity p152) and a sonic impact T-amp currently. Since the amp only has speaker L/R outputs, I need a sub with high level input as well as high level output. Like option 1 on page 11 of the Powered_Sub_Manual.pdf However, the ebay store image shows that the psw-8 has these outputs: ![]() but the images posted on page 1 by Big Daddy, do not match this image. Has the psw-8 been revised with these in/outputs, or is their image wrong? Do these inputs/outputs exist only on the psw-10? Also the ebay store lists signal on/off as a feature, but page one of this thread says the psw-8 does not have it. I'm so confused, will this sub work for me or not? Thanks. |

My girlfriend just gave me an HD sub-10 for christmas, and for some reason its barely putting out any sound. i know its on and can feel it thumping a little when i put my hand on it, but i have the volume up almost 3/4 and its not even coming close to the output that my little 100 watt yamaha had. I'm getting frustrated. This thing should be dominating the room and it's not. i have it hooked up with a 1 male to 2 female Y splitter plugged into the AVR with two RCA cables to both the red and white inputs. Would I be better off buying a 1 female to 2 male splitter and using a coaxial cable. The cross over is all the way up. Some one please help me, I really dont want to send this thing back.

I recently bought my 3rd HD sub from DeepDiscount. What a change from the previous model. I realized after I bought it and hooked it up that my older HD12 was humming. I contacted DeepDiscount by email, (it is difficult to get through by phone). They requested I send in the old amp and they would send me a replacement. The problem was that the new amp is different sized. I explained to the person that I was communicating with and she said "we have old stock of amps." It then became more complicated on where to cut the amp wire, and packaging. DD requires double boxing. After several emails back and forth, DeepDiscount decided to send me a replacement subwoofer for free. Now I was going to have to pay for the amplifier shipping to and back. So, when they told me this, I would still have to pay the shipping for the old subwoofer back to them. I explained that there is a lot of difference between shipping and amp and a subwoofer. To my amazement they said they would pay the shipping back on the old subwoofer.
I am totally impressed with this. And by the way, both my new subwoofers works great. Thank you Big Daddy for helping me to decide on buying a matching subwoofer to what I have, versus buying two different matching subs. |

![]() I have 2 subs, and I have the bass output on my receiver set to -0-, the level on my Boston Acoustic at 12:00, and the level on my Acoustic Audio at almost 3:00! I don't have an SPL meter, but I have spent many hours on many days trying to balance them out, and I think that the A.A.'s like to be driven a little hotter. Also, you may need to rerun your audessy or whatever auto setup you have, check your crossovers in your bass management; generally setting all speakers to small and crossovers to 80hz in your receiver is a good starting point. Maybe try turning up your sub output on the receiver a little at a time while carefully listening to some deep, bass heavy stuff. Finally, check out Big Daddy's https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...nt-part-i.html & https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...t-part-ii.html They are very helpful and enlightening. I hope this helps you, and Merry Christmas! ![]() Last edited by frogmort; 12-25-2010 at 08:15 PM. |

So your best advice would just be to crank up the juice, huh? I think I can live with that. Also, how far away is your sub from your listening position? I feel like I'm getting more of an effect when i stand a few feet behind the couch. I'm gonna get an adapter tomorrow at Radio Shack and keep working it. Your description of how you hooked it up and sat back and was immediately disappointed was my experience exactly. I'm hoping my experience will mirror yours throughout. Just wondering, what kind of receiver are you running it through? I'm using a Pioneer VSX-520-K, I'm pretty sure it has all the important adjustments. Thanks for the help.
